Wheels on stock tires
 

So noob question here, my stock tires are still practically brand new so I want to run wheels that will fit them. So on that note can 17x8 only fit or is there a little wiggle room like 17x7 to 17x8.25?

Stock 215/45/17 tires are on 17x7 OEM wheels. You can put them on 17x8 aftermarket wheels if you like but most of us wanted to get some higher performance tires.

Sell the stock tires. They aren't the worst tire, and someone might still want them, plus I see people on here looking for used tires that they can tear up drifting. If they're brand new you might be able to get a few hundred out of them to take the sting off the purchase of new tires.

You can always go to tirerack and look up the specs. The rim width range for the Primacy's is 7-8 inches, meaning they shouldn't be mounted on rims wider than 8 inches. While some stretch tires for looks, the tire isn't designed for that and over-stretching becomes a safety issue.

The Primacy's are good tires (tirerack lists them as "Grand Touring" tires), and if you plan to autocross or anything like that they're good at teaching you the limits of the car and helping you hone your skills as a driver. I've gone autocrossing on my stock tires, and have posted times better than drivers in FR-Ss/BRZs with upgraded suspensions and tires.

I put them on a 8 inch but it was already too stretched for my taste. Id sell and pick up something a bit better

I've seen people put 215's on 9.5's in the aggressive wheel fitment thread. Where there's a will, there's a way.

spending money on rims before tires says a lot. Are you prioritizing on cosmetics? My recommendation is buy tires, sell the stock ones and look for some used wheels. Just my opinion.

I don't think that's really fair. The stock tires are fun for low speed stuff. If they were cheaper I'd probably keep using them for narrow backup rain tires which can also hoon and get good mpg.

Thanks for the help guys I appreciate it, i guess maybe I am prioritizing on cosmetics I don't track my car yet so having a high performance tire isn't way high on my priority list however that is subject to change, I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

The wheels I'm looking at are 17x8.25 is that just too much for stock tires?

If I were you I'd save up my money to buy both new wheels and tires at the same time. That way you will have exactly what you want in the way of wheels without having to make any compromises. Why spend a lot of money on wheels that you may end up wanting to replace when the stock tires wear out.

the stock tires are very fun and great at teaching you. Im just trying to be the voice of reason and play the advocate. Wheels alone is a lot of money to throw at the car with no real gain when keeping stock tires on.

Anyone have some picture of how they look stretched on 8 or 8.25

I have them on 8 inch wide OZ wheels and they are fine. The curb guard still sticks out past the wheel. I'm not a fan of stretch but they are great tires to learn limits on. You could probably put them on an 8.5 if the tire shop was willing (but 8 is actually still in Michelin spec)
