Ecutek noob
 

This is a painful thread for me to start...im usually not the noob.

I had my car tuned with ecutek before i was able to get a cable and deskey. Now that i have one that i got used im stumped. I downloaded proecu and updated everything and have coms with the ecu. Dtc code read works etc. but since i dont have a copy of my rom im not sure what to do after i querry the ecm. Im just trying to datalog and see if my racerom features are locked. Could someone point me in the right direction? I feel like my grandfather trying to use an iphone for the first time.

Raceroms are keyed to the dongle (tuner) that created them. Your only option for anything other then DTC and logging would be to start from scratch using a stock file.

Still confused on logging though. Not sure what to do after dump. I'm tuping thia from mobile ao I could be wrong but pretty sure it asks me to select the rom and that's whereb I'm not sure what to do next.

If your tuner doesn't mind you can ask them for an unlocked file. You will need the RaceROM upgrade to get at the custom maps if they were used though.

Otherwise you'll need to create your own file based off of one of the ROMs in the stock ROM directory. Reading the ROM on the ECU currently will not work, and EcuTek will not give that to you as they have no way of knowing if the tuner "ok'd" you to get the file. The downloaded files (rom dumps) will not be readable to you.

Question to optain a data log from ecutec, do I need the tunner to give it to me or can I get it by myself with ecutek

You can datalog so long as you have a ROM file. As ECUtek provides some base ROMs with the ProECU download, just add the RaceRom features to the relevant ROM and you're good to go.

Just make sure you add the extra features to the ROM otherwise you'll only get the basic logging parameters. Once you add the ECUtek RaceRom patch to it, it will allow you access to all of them.
