Clicking when blipping throttle

Been hearing a faint clicking noise when I first blip the throttle on downshifts. I don't hear it every time and so I haven't thought anything of it. Today I downshifted twice in a tunnel and it made the noise both times quite audibly. Both shifts were cruising at about 2.5k and then I blipped to about 3k and that's when I hear it. Time to take it to the stealership?

Tip-in knock. It's the shitty stock tune.

I also noticed it. Pinging. It does it most of the time when bliping hard. At all RPMs pretty much. I figured it was a rush mapping, shitty gas and 12.5:1 compression. I would be happy with 4 HP less but no pinging. I'll never be completely happy. It's my curse.

AND there's the crickets.

I just noticed that my ac was on... It is much less noticeable when it's off. It's still loud compared to any knock or pinging I've heard in other cars...

On a side note when I gas up at the chevron by my house I have zero crickets. When I use shell they really come alive.

Now I really want a tune but I like my warranty more unfortunately.

This car has a drive by wire throttle, there's a little electric motor controlling the throttle valve, when you slam on the gas it goes to open as fast as it can hitting a mechanical stop, that's the clicking.

There's a thread on this exact topic further down, here's Dezoris' response, a logged track day with zero knock and the clicking clearly audible.

Interesting read. That doesn't explain why it is noticeably louder when I had my ac on. And if that's the case wouldn't it make one click rather than numerous?

:iono:

Mine changes volume based on the stars, I never factored AC into it.

You could try to take it to the stealership but I doubt they'll do anything without a CEL or if it's easily repeatable, even then they'll just replace anything to say they've done the work, at least in my experience.

If you want a more concrete response you'll need to post up a video, there's so many rattles and clicks and clangs and every car is different enough that you'll get 6 different responses based off the same description (see above). Best of luck.

This car is full of clicks and automated valves. Turning of the Ac kill some of them due to the compressor and such but the amount of pinging I get from blipping the gas pedal is bound to be on all the 86s, isn't it? So obvious? Or I have a problem few other have.
