Rear Top hats: heim vs rubber
Hello all,
I currently have some rear top mounts that locate the damper shaft via rubber sandwiched by washers. My question to you all is, will going with the heim style make an appreciable difference? I have some decent dampers and I feel like the rubber bushing could be affecting it's ability to dampen properly. The car is a DD but it's primary existence in life is to autox. So what do you guys think? Worth the hassle and cost? Thanks! |
I try to use rubber bushings where ever possible. Mine is also DD/autocross car. I have MCS shocks with factory rear upper mounts and heim bottom mounts. Later this year they will replace my heim mounts with rubber bushings.
IME the heim mounts only increase noise and wear out quicker, making the car more high maintenance. I've never noticed appreciable increase in "precision", when I drove a car with pillowball mounts. Also speaking of top mounts, they are stiff enough, that they will not deflect before the shock movement. |
