Vortech gurus...need your advice
Here's my setup
550 fbm injectors and 270 L/hr fuel pump (fbm) fuel pump Vortech v2 (oil fed) Perrin oil cooler E85 tune I am aiming for 300-350 whp 2.6" full exhaust What Pulley should I run and what psi would I be at to hit the target hp? Thank you in advance Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk |

is e85 an option for you?
Depending on that is what your end whp goal is going to be. I have a full FAQ on everything Vortech if you need some other info too. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66430 |
And what headers where you considering? If possible try to get a set of EL headers with larger primaries. Those type of headers really compliment the vortech setup.
Check out this thread. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...hlight=vortech These were custom headers built for this car in the style I mentioned above. This specific header you cant get since there was only one made nor would I recommend buying anything from the FA20Crap brand. But Im sure you could get a custom set made or at least something really close. |
For your setup 300 Dynojet whp is relatively easy, even on pump gas.
You could do a 3" pulley, or a wastegate setup on a smaller pulley for those goals. 2.87" on e85 = 382whp for my car on the v3 blower.. and potentially 400+ with the right tune. With 2.62" the limits haven't been explored much. 450+?? who knows. Building the engine would make a lot of sense. You have a good clutch and cooling mods? Also the widest stickiest tires that fit because the wheelspin is pretty silly. |

A header only makes <5hp with a SC in my experience. I had a JDL and took it off. |
@jack43 Ive been watching your build and it is NICEEEE. lol
As far as my header commment Im basing it off of the result of that custom fa20club header in the thread i linked and what most guys on other platforms do to increase power out put on vortech set up (mustangs,g35,350z,s2000) Dont flame me I KNOW those are totally different cars but thats what those vortech guys recommend to each other. NA fa20 headers wont make as much of a difference as a header custom made for a supercharger application. Even jdl said that they might make a sc specific header for this platform with larger primaries. |
also the 2.62 pulley spins the blower over 55k rpm which is past what the blower is built to flow at. You may loose power because youll be operating wayyyy outside of the blowers efficiency range. just check out the compressor map and youll see the 55k rpm cap. If you REALLY wanted to spin the blower at its max rpm youll need a 2.75 pulley. but in my opinion its nots really worth it. plus so far the 2.75 pulley is only available in 8rib config. (atleast i havent found a 6 rib config yet.)

OP has the v2 so he's good to go on the 2.62"
|
the v2 doesnt have an unlimted rpm (even though thats not how brians been marketing it on the forums). the impeller is still the same. It may be able to spin faster than the 52k rpm limit of the v3 it is still bound to what the impeller can perform at which is at max 55k.
faster isnt always better. same concept applies on turbo. upping the boost wont always make more power. |
you'll get 300 on E85
i had the V3, stock pulley, stock injectors and stock fuel pump and put down 260 with the pump maxed out. we installed a new pump and squeezed some more hp out of but maxed out the injectors. i put in the 2.87 pulley and 770cc at the same time and had a retune. the power difference was amazing. i would say close to 300 on pump gas and the tune wasnt complete yet. i was logging and updating with the tuner and a seal gave out. after i get my blower back (its being rebuilt and converted to a v2) and the 93 tune is dialed in, i'll start working on E5. i have the kit, just gotta get my car back on the road and get the 93 tune dailed in. Quote:

not sure how its been on these motors but the 2.62 pulley i ran on my vortech supercharged gti had a ton of belt slip issues. even with a ton of tension, good belt wrap, and a gates green stripe belt. just something to think about when going down pulley sizes
