Would these 18inch wheels fit?
 

I apologise if a thread like this has been started before. I don't know jackshit about wheels so I desperately need some good advice here.

I've got the base GT model with stock 16" wheels at the moment. I'm thinking of moving up to 18" with these:

and choosing Lexani LX9 tyres to go with that package (thoughts?).


Would these new wheels be a simple swap or would it be more complicated than that?
Also, seeing as the new bigger wheels would make the car higher, is it an expensive process to lower the car to where it is at the moment with the stock wheels?

Yes, they will fit.

Go for a wider rim!

18x7.5 is fine unless they've got a wicked high offset. Can't say for certain without knowing that.

The Lexani LX9 will be insanely huge. You want 225/40R18 tires.

I would but that particular design doesn't come any bigger than 18".


So Lexani LX7 it is then? I don't know anything about tyres, if you click the link I posted, there will be a selection of tyres to choose from, would any brand within those specs be good?
I've looked through all of them, and I personally like the Lexani LX pattern the most.

By wider, he meant wider than 7.5", not a greater diameter than 18".

The tires that came on your car were about 24.7" in diameter; a 40 series tire in a size like the one suggested (225/40-18) will be about 25.1" in diameter. I'll let others weigh in as to whether or not that is too tall to run without rubbing.

I run 18x7.5 +48mm with 225/40/18 tires and a one inch drop without any rubbing problems whatsoever. It is a very conservative size as far as aftermarket wheels are concerned (the wheels are tucked in a bit).

So that's pretty much identical to what I'm thinking of getting?

Did you also lower your car? If not, how much higher is the car in comparison to the stock wheels?

I'm on vacation right now so not with my car. When I said one inch drop I meant I lowered my car by one inch from stock height. It fits and looks good, but some people will tell you the wheels aren't flush enough. It is still very functional and in reality your tire choice has way more to do with performance than any attempt at getting hella flush.

The LX7 will work fine, but a 35% height will provide a less smooth ride than a 40% due to less rubber between road and wheel. For reference, stock tire is 45%.

Oh I see, now I know what that number means. So that means the LX9 would be 60%? no wonder they were said to be massive tyres!

Alright I'll keep an eye for either a 40% or 45% then.

So I'll just get those rims and lower my by an inch. Shouldn't be a problem right?
