Aftermarket race seats, retain passenger air bag function?
As title states, looking to know that for example once you install a race seat on "passenger" side if the passenger dash/pillar airbags are still functional? I know I've heard a resistor of some sort is put in place but wanted to be sure if I were to get some new seats that the airbags outside of the ones obviously removed by diff seats would still be all functional.
Put this post here as most likeley folks that race would know this and are also ones most likely to be replacing seats, thank you. |
I don't know how it works in the twins, but when I had racing seats in my M3 all I needed was the passenger occupancy sensor. A spare cost me around $110.
Unplugged the car battery, removed the passenger seat, installed passenger recaro, placed passenger occupancy sensor under the cushions of, guided the cable for the sensor through the bottom hole for the 4 or 5 point racing harness, connected it to the car, reconnected the battery. Didn't have a fault light or code and fully functioning passenger air bags. |
It looks like you'll need the piece on the right that is sandwiched between 8 and 9. I haven't been able to find a part number, but maybe your local dealer can help you find it.
