Air Filter Replacement
1 Attachment(s)
Since I didn't get much help with a post in the DIY section I figured I'd see if any of you know, or could help out. I installed my new filter over the weekend, and fit everything back together quite nicely. The only thing I noticed was after installing the airbox back into the snorkel there seemed to be a small gap visible between the box inlet and the snorkel outlet (photo attached). I'm not sure if it was like this before, but the car is definitely running better than with the stock filter so I don't think it's a big deal and is still sealing properly.

Sometimes takes patience and little elbow grease

So there should be no gap visible? I'll unbolt it and redo it today at work if that's the case.
|
No gap. Force it in there.

Took me a couple tries on mine to get the fitment aligned so that everything fit together correctly. I ended up pulling off the 3 (I think) retaining bolts to give me the needed room to lift the filter housing out, position it correctly and then reassemble. Even though I was able to remove the stock filter with everything bolted together.

In that case it shall be done, just need to undo the 3 bolts and live by my friends gear assembly motto. "Don't fit? Force it."

Mine has the gap, as long as the foam on the snorkel is still in contact with the airbox there should be absolutely no functional issues.
