Additional sealing for direct injectors?

So it looks like I've suffered an engine failure due to a bad tune resulting in blown injector seals, and knock. Installing new engine and assembling di system with new seals, anyone ever consider adding additional sealing? Possibly high temp silicone of some sort on injector shaft between the Teflon seal and the isolator? Any possible negative side effects besides the injectors being a bit of a pita to remove later on? Im running fi, and thinking additional sealing would be nice.... opinions?

I think the problem you will run into placing an sealant above the teflon seals is that it needs to be capable of combustion temperatures and extreme heating and cooling cycles.

These systems are obscenely engineered, the DI injectors are very high end in terms of technology. Personally, without knowing why and how they designed the system the way they did. I would not touch it. The DI seals move up the shaft, however is there a perfect seal, or is there just a bit of pressure that gets released up the injector during combustion?

Without knowing that and placing another seal half way up the shaft could be detrimental without plenty of testing.

If I was going to gamble I would place another teflon seal halfway up the shaft as backup. (Assuming the Injector still slid back into tunnel).

But even that is not going to do much if that main seal is gone, except possibly buy you time. Even then it's not like you will know if the main seal is gone unless you get some type of popping.

Has anyone come up with an upgraded seal yet?

Can anyone on the forum speak for these? Has anyone ordered a set?

On a side note - if the DI seals blow, you hear the popping, can you simply replace and expect no damage to be done? I'm assuming that having a seal blown won't cause immediate damage, but if you keep driving on it, it will?

Replace it right away. Should save it but best to do a compression test after.
