Is my car insurance stiffing me?

I was just wondering if anyone's ever had any problems with their car insurance.

I recently got into kind of a bad accident and my car insurance has been pretty unprofessional and unhelpful about the whole process.

Calls have been ignored, I feel like they're seriously lagging on getting everything finalized, even the owner of the body shop my car is currently at said that my insurance company has been pretty unprofessional.

This is my first major accident so I really have no idea of the process and whatnot.

What's the worse case scenario and is there anything I can do to speed things along?

PLEASE HELP!!

Which insurance company do you have? That's a good starting point for folks to be able to offer suggestions. :)

Also the time frame would help too.

But it doesn't sound like they are being the greatest insurance company.

You're paying them, therefore, they work for you.Make them remember that.

If you need to, get the body shop to put it in writing what was said unprofessionally, and take it to a manager.
I was in a pretty bad accident and the insurance was a real hassle, ignoring calls, doing basically the same thing you're going through. We would keep calling, even getting on the phone with the agent's supervisor. Yes, it was probably a bitch move, but I wasn't about to be disrespected and treated the way they were treating us sitting down.

Were you at fault? If not, make sure the other insurance company pays for the damages and not yours. Your rates may or may not go up regardless if you were at fault or not if you made a claim on your own insurance company.
