Rear License plate vibrating

I had two 10" subs installed in my BRZ trunk yesterday. They're great, but they are making my rear license plate vibrate. I have a license plate holder/bracket that is metal and carbon fiber.

The vibration will stop if I add screws to the bottom two holes of the plate bracket instead of just the top two holes. But the car doesn't have two holes there so I'm going to drill them in I guess. Does anyone know the proper screw size, and should I also get one of those plastic things that the screw goes into instead of just a raw metal hole?

Thanks

Just stick some 3m foam on the back of the license plate. No drilling, no rattles.

Put some dynamatt on the back of the license plate towards the bottom. If it's the plate rattling against the frame, then put the dynamat on the frame.

I'd disconnect the subs before I'd tap wood screws into my car. Just do what he said and you're fine.

I would suggest sticking any kind of foam tape on the car instead of the plate. Dirt/dust can get caught on the foam and with vibration would scratch the hell out of the paint. If you stick the foam to the car, the plate will take any damage. You can remove the foam tape and clean it up with cleaners if you need to later. Easier than having to repair scratches.

similar to what i did. just got those felt circular things for the bottom of the chairs at Home Depot and stuck 2 on the bottom of the license plates. No drilling or anything.

The 3M foam I'm thinking of has double sided adhesive. Sticks to the plate and the car.

I had this problem many many years ago with my Celica Alltrac, I had 4 10's in the back. I folded up a box from a 12 pack of beer and stuffed it under that plate and it fixed it.

Sorry I just found an excuse to tell that story and I had to. haha.

i'm planning on doing some closed-cell foam on the back of my plate.. that reminds me, i need to pick some up this weekend to do it..

i can't hear it in the car, so it doesn't bother me as much!

If your brz came with the trunk carpet liner. Just pull the liner off and put dynamat where the liner is and then put the liner back on and the trunk wont rattle. I lined my whole trunk and trunk lid and under the rear deck lid. No rattles anywhere.

What I did was keep my paper plates from the dealership & put them behind the state plate. The paper acts as the buffer & isn't at all noticeable as it's hidden completely by frame and plate.

On phone I am. Therefore, if mistakes I make, Frank Oz blame you should.
