Rear seat release straps

Hi from Australia.

I'm hoping one of you fine American chaps or gals can help an Aussie out. I've deleted my driver side key hole and now need a way of unlocking the rear seat from inside the trunk to gain access to the cabin if I have a flat battery etc. The FR-S has pull straps because of the valet feature and they are what I need.

Can someone provide me with a part number please? I have done part searches but this part doesn't come up. I've emailed a dealer in the US but had no response. My local dealer says to get a part number and they'll see if they can order them. I've had no luck ordering TRD parts previously so there is only a slim chance they can order them.

Here's hoping.

Gary.

...So how do you put your back seats down now?

Is there no keyhole for the trunk? Just checked and the OEM trunk of the FRS has a keyhole to open the trunk.

I don't think the issue is getting into the trunk, I think the issue is getting the seats folded down from inside the trunk.

It sounds like the GT86 doesn't have the release straps from the factory, and instead has the seat release inside the car. If he or she removed their door keyhole, there would be no way to get into the car in the cases originally mentioned since there aren't release straps in the trunk.

Thank you! That is what I'm after! I'll let you guys know how I go at the dealer.

And fourvalleys is correct. The issue is getting to the cabin when you can't open the doors. We can unlock the rear seat from in the cabin but not from in the trunk.

Why?

Because it is 99.99999% redundant. I never use it and would rather not look at it. It is so much better without it. Of course there is that one time that you require physical key access and that is what I am attempting to ensure.

Update.

I have to buy the the entire assembly which is $350. So I am going to have to make something up.

Thank you very much for your help, especially supramk4.

How did you go about replacing keyhole, Does what you replace the keyhole with just cover it?

On the some Lexus, they keyhole is covered. And during emergencies you need to pop off the cover to access the physical keyhole underneath. But that kind doesn't help you now, you would have to put they key mechanism back in the door, and find a place that has parts that has handle covers

The key hole barrel is totally removed and is replaced with the same cover that is on the passenger side. I just ordered one of those and simply replaces the key hole part.

Wow.... anyone have this for the GT86 rather than FRS (to have the underpanels, exhaust tips, keyless, ....)? Also any PDF of these hanging around?
