245 square setup... Need advice

Looking at getting a 245/40/18 tires on a 9.5 wheel. Just wondering if that is the best way to go to improve traction and handling. With the vortech kit on a 3.125 pulley I would assume the wide tires are suitable for the application. Probably going with the direzza z2 for tires and enkai raijin for wheels.

255/35/18 at least. 245 is stretched on a 9.5.

If you want traction, 255 or 265 is what you want.

don't you already have a similar thread running? I believe CSG Mike is helping out plenty there...

245 is good for 9.0 or 8.5

So 245 front with 255 in the rear?

I second going with 255s on 18x9.5 square. My offset was 40mm. No rubbing issues while turning lock to lock. I'm also on Stance Coil overs.

seems like you see some poke on 255 with the 18x9.5 maybe a 10 would be better?

Even if you run 245, go 245/35R18 instead of 245/40R18.
If I were you, I would run 255/35 on 9.5 rims.

Because 1 thread isn't enough to answer his question. It needs 2 side by side, real time updates.

running 255/35/18 on 18x9.5 +40 no rubbing issues. this is with -2 camber all around though from my previous setup on 17s. What is you reason for wanting 245? it seems like you really want to run it that way..

At 25.7", the ZII in 245/40-18 is 1.0" taller than OEM; you may have rubbing issues.

The tread width of 9.5" matches your wheel width; this is good. For handling, the rule of thumb is that the tire's tread width be +/- 1.0" of the wheel width. A wheel width greater than the tread width will generally favor handling. Wide tires on narrow wheels are to be avoided if handling is your priority.

The 9.5" tread width of the ZII is more than sufficient for your power; it's not too much and it's not too little.

Ok so you saying a 255/35/18 would be ideal for my wheel? How much negative camber should I run for improved handling?

In the ZII, that would probably be a better tire for you to run as it's only 0.3" taller than the OEM tire, and its tread width of 9.6" maps well to your wheel width of 9.5". As an aside, does it make you wonder how it is that a 245 Dunlop ZII has a tread width of 9.5", and the same tire in 255 has a tread width of 9.6"?

I have no idea what camber you should run; use tire temperatures to guide you on that - after you use Mike's guidance on initial camber settings.

Does it matter between 9.6 and 9.5. I'm thinking of actually going with a 235 upfront with 255 in the rear due to the tires following the groove of the wheels.

Not sure if that messes with the tread width.
