Exhaust tips question?

Hey guys i was wondering if its possible to cut or remove stock exhaust tips and have the Perrin 4inch tips welded on instead of the clamp install option?? just dont want all the noise and attention aftermarket exhaust bring...

I have the Perrin tips and you can weld them if you want

Why weld them? If you ever decide to get an actual exhaust you can remove the Perrin tips still and sell them for like $140-$150ish. Doubt anyone would want your stock exhaust with the tips welded.

One bolt and the old exhaust tips pull off. One clamp and your new perrin tips go on. Done :)

Just wondering cause I've seen them installed and they have that screw sticking out the side.. Kinda looks ugly no?

If you can weld there's no sense in spending twice as much on the perrin ones with a clamp and a fancy logo.

I broke my bolt off and had to weld my 4" tips. Hopefully you're luckier that me

So you welded them after they broke off? How does it look?

Just wanted to bump as I have my own question regarding this.

I bought some dual exhaust tips that I wanted to clamp onto my aftermarket axel back- which also isn't installed- however the inlets of the exhaust piping and tip are the same so I can't slip it over. Regardless if I could, the exhaust tip itself is too large.

The only option I have is to get it welded, but i'll likely have to get some of the piping from the axelback cut down as cutting the exhaust tip itself won't be enough.

I don't know the process of going to a muffler shop, so should I get my axelback installed first, and then take it to the muffler shop to be welded- or leave it uninstalled, and take it and the exhaust tip there for welding and then install it after?
Ideally i'd like to do the second option however I'm really worried about the tip length being too long and not sure how they'd go about mocking up the sizing when the axelback isn't currently on the car.

The best method would be for them to place a sleeve over both the tip and the pipe to strengthen it. A butt weld could be a bit iffy since the pipe material is thin.

We tack in place then remove and "butt" weld. Same as making headers. No problem.

Am I going to run into many complications with the length of my tip being too long? it's about 8.5 inches, and is meant to slide over the exhaust piping to be clamped. It can't however, as the tip doesn't have a relief cut. Even assuming it did have a relief cut, it's still an extra 1- 1.5 inches longer than the stock single outlet tip.

(I've had a very hard time finding a dual outlet exhaust tip that was less than 9-10 inches in length, 8.5 was the smallest I could find)

The only solution I can see involves the exhaust piping from my axelback itself to be trimmed down :/
