Cold air intake question
Hello guys.
I recently installed aftermarket cat back exhaust (ARK DT-S) and just love the sound and power out of it :) but I have a question. is it MANDATORY to put cold air intake? my friend told me "just saying, its common physics : increase in output potential with no increase in intake volume does not give you the power, your going to damage your engine" and stuff stuff. if any of you who installed exhaust but intake, i would like to know what happened to your car. Thanks in advance |
Get a drop in filter or wait for grimmspeed to finish their intake. Most are snake oil. Stock intake is quite good.

You shouldn't need an aftermarket intake until you need to exceed what the OEM intake can accommodate. A drop in filter as Duke mentioned should be plenty. Too many intakes provide a small bump in power because they change how the MAF sensor reads the airflow, causing the ECU to inject slightly more/less fuel than what it's calibrated to use. Once the ECU is recalibrated (tuned) to read the new airflow correctly, the tuner can make accurate changes in the fuel tables to make power safely.
