Subaru vs Toyota bolt/nut sizing
I searched and didn't find anything on this, so... what size bolts/nuts are common on Subarus? I've always worked on Toyotas and know they use the 10mm, 12mm, 14mm and 17mm on almost every part of the car. For you Subaru guys, what are the standard sizes you use? I'm just wondering if I'm going to have to modify my standard tool kit or not.

You might want to post this in the BRZ forum if you haven't already.

yes 10, 12, 14, and 17 is very common on Subaru's as well. There are some parts that require special tools (differential oil plugs, clutch fork bolt) but you can take apart 99% of the car with those 4 sockets. I had to take off my rear bumper and tail lights this weekend and only used 8, 10, and 12, and a flathead screwdriver.

Sounds just like a Honda too :) And Nissan.. and Mazda..
Better than the Torx head obsession the German cars seem to have. |
Standard JIS metric bolt heads are usually used in most Japanese vehicles, which makes them very similar across most Japanese brands.

19mm for the wheels...
14mm all over 12mm all over 10mm all over 8mm all over 17mm for some suspension components that will fix about 90-95 % of everything that ales you..:) Bill |
