Radium or Crawford catch cans/AOS
Now that I'm committed to turbo I need to make a call on which way to go on minimising blow by.
I was fairly well sold on the Crawford AOS, but looking at the Radium dual system, has me trying to weigh up the differences. Interested to hear what others are using. |
Do you want to recirculate or VTA?

Technically I need to recirc, both street and track regs here don't allow VTA.
It's a fairly soft rule that isn't really enforced. |
Personally I'd trust Radium anyday over Crawford...but that's just me. Radium backs every product up with solid engineering and Crawford...well their motors blow right before they release their built short block kit.

Radium cans are the worst value in the history of car modification. It's a catch can. If I were going to recirc I'd go with the avo can because it looks nice. Still crazy expensive for what you get, though.

One thing I do hear about for the Crawford piece is that it rattles like all hell under the hood due to mounting location.

I have the dual radium catch can kit. It's a very well made setup. Pricy for sure but worth it.

I'm nervouse about recurculating in cold weather with condensation building up inside the can. Crawford even heats their aos in the wrx because its a problem but said it wasnt needed in this application because of underhood heat. I guess id have about 10 minutes of condensation every winter morning here then. But if your regulations say no vta then I guess its between Crawford and avo. If you can get away with it radium or fbm. I chose fbm because as nice as the radium is that price is crazy for catchcans.

The Radium dual can set up does exactly what I want, functionally (vapor recirc to manifold, liquid stays in the can(s)) but it's stupid money. If no one buys the thing and the price comes off about a hundred bucks, maybe.
Chances are pretty good I'll be FI in a couple of months, so I'm looking this over too. What I know I'm not doing is trying to "economize" by returning fuel + oil + water + carbon to my sump. I suppose the Crawford could be hooked up to drain to a can rather than the sump, has anyone done this? Edit: Just stumbled on these -- http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31544. This is a little closer to what I had in mind. |
The Radium system is NOT vent to atmosphere (VTA).

I'm still leaning towards Crawford. The Radium cans block the fender vents I intend on putting in.
