exedy clutch questions
can i have some input between stage 1 and stage 2 exedy clutches for a 350hp goal? do the kits come with a lightened flywheel? I'm having a difficulty deciding between the two.
some things to keep are that my car is a daily and i do encounter stop and go traffic on a daily basis and would like something close to the stock feel. I am sure there are some sacrifices with upgrading a clutch, but input on where I would be sacrificing and what i could or should possibly go with would be great. thanks everyone! |
I have an exedy stage 1 clutch. Its amazing as far as feel. I would say you wouldnt really be able to tell the difference between the stage1 and the stock clutch. Personally, i think the exedy actually feels just a bit better, but barely. And only because i know its there can i say its different. Hard to explain, but it feels better, yet stock at the same time. Very easy to daily drive.
I would say your wtq goal is probably even more important than your whp goal. What is it? I am around 350whp, but around 320wtq....and that is more than the stage1 really can handle. It is working fine, but there have been a few spots where i catch it slipping under hard driving/shifts...so in the end, i will need a new clutch soon, as i bump my power up. if you are like most and running a bigger turbo, with less wtq, then the stage one will probably work for you, as 350whp on those setups usually runs like 250-280 wtq, which i am sure this stage1 would handle fine. I see you are running a sc, and those really seem to be running lower tq numbers, so yeah, probably would work. Cant tell you much about the stage 2, as i have only tried the stock and exedy stage1 on this car. Hope that helped a bit. |

appreciate the great input. to be honest i'm not going to go more than 350 but the wtq deal is a great question. i guess there is a blank there in the equation that i need for the answer. i may be running a t4 and trying to attain 350hp so i'm not sure where that would put the wtq at. seems for what i'm trying to do or interested in for the matter is around 180-270wtq thank you for the input though!! |
If you want a close to stock feel, go with something that is a copper organic clutch disc. Don't go Ceramic or Metallic or you will be miserable.

Can anyone tell me how their experience is with an act 6 puck clutch that's sprung?

basically the clutch is going to instantly grab. The sprung disc is just going to reduce the jarring shake from the clutch / flywheel engagement. The disk will squeak if the disc is sliding against the flywheel, if you hear this you are killing your clutch disc life.
certainly not in the "stock feel" category. |

Well hmm which route to go Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Copper Organic disc with higher clamping force then stock with a light weight flywheel.
OR light weight crank pully for a similar effect. |
