Washer for oil drain plug missing? Kind of urgent.

Just did the break-in oil change. Actually I am in the middle of it. Everything went okay. But I could not find the used washer in the drain pan or on the plug. I am really confused whether I should put on my new washer or not.

Any quick suggestions or share your experience? I remember there was an old thread on this, but I cannot find it. Any help? Thanks.

Sorry, I tried to delete this thread. But I do not know how. Anyway, I finally managed to peel the OEM washer from the oil drain plug. It was hard. But it finally came off. Now I am in peace. Thanks a lot.

I haven't done an oil change yet, but doesn't your new oil filter come with a drain plug gasket?

They aren't packaged together but if you ask for a oil filter they usually add the crush washer.

Oil filter doesn't come with drain gasket, you mean oil drain bolt comes with gasket?

Yes it does, but you'll have to remove it from the bolt if it's first time oil change. I think the factory sprays the pan after everything is assembled, so the gasket is attached to drain plug for the first time.

gasket = crush washer

lol it's usually painted on from the factory and requires some angry force to get it off.

I was basing my information on this site and a couple of others.

Does it usually not come with the gasket (i.e. if I went to the dealer to get an oil filter)?

Is this washer different from the gasket that comes with the filter?

Washer in question. The site you referenced above packages a crush washer w/ the oil filter (there's two part numbers listed for the oil filter if you look at the listing).

It is not. Actually the washer is quite expensive for what it really is, $1.20.
