extending O2 sensor?

I've got a dilemna. I got the JDL UEL headers, with JDL overpipe and JDL catted front pipe (stock midpipe and TRD quadtip). Have not installed any of the JDL works of art yet, but I'm getting worried about CELs if I use a spacer in the second bung on the header. Too many bad stories, and my OCD won't let me put up with CELs.

I'm also not sure now if I want to get a tune...just don't like the idea of messing with the stock settings. :( Especially if I can't easily change them back. I'm just not an electronics person when it comes to cars, give me a wrench any day. :bonk:

My other option, if I was to cover the second bung in the header and put a new opening right after the cat in the front pipe...is there any way to get the second O2 sensor back there? Looking at the wiring, looks like the second sensor has barely enough slack to make it to the stock position. And if you could move it back, would it keep the CELs at bay? Anyone had any success or failure with this? Lotta questions, I know, but I have all this beautiful hardware sitting here and it really needs to be on the car and adding to the wonderful sound of this engine.

I currently have a spacer and it's fine (I use the medium insert). CEL came on for like a day and went away again without even resetting. I've run this setup for months now. I do plan on getting a tune in the near future but I have never heard any bad stories either though I'm sure it's happened.

Yes you can get a bung welded in post secondary cat and it should work but you might have to extend your o2 sensor back there and secure the wiring.

I don think there should be any issue extending the o2 sensor behind the secondary cat. Just make sure you dont solder because the exhaust heat will melt it. Use a lot of shrink wrap and get crafty with your hanging setup.

Or just take it to an exhaust shop and have them do it. Im sure they've done it several times.
