startup behaviour

  • Now and again (once a month over 9 months ) I have had the car start then stop right away. Hot or cold no difference. I may need 3 attempts

The other day it started, then died, then seemingly restarted itself without pressing the button but I did still have my foot on the brake. I'm not sure
whether I usually come off the brake at once.

Re-reading the Manual it suggests that this may be normal and that you should keep on the brake until it is fully started. It also says (a few pages over)
that you do not have to keep the button pressed until fully started.

Before I tackle Toyota can others enlighten?

I just hold down the clutch, press start (it starts within a second) let off on the clutch and it stays on. Been like this in 10F to 90F degree weather.
