Courtesy Light Stays On After LED Upgrade

Does anyone have a solution for this? Installed LED courtesy lights and now (several months later) the passenger side light stays on at all times. Closing the door dims the light a bit, but it's still on. Not too worried about the battery, since it's an LED, but it's a problem.

Could you be a little more specific?

Is it staying on at full power, or staying very dimly lit?

It's fully lit when the door is open. Closing the door dims it, but it never turns off. Driver side works normally.

Take the LED out. Replace it with OEM. If it still does it, the BUI unit needs to be replaced and you have to take it in to the dealer. Same thing happened to me.

I would suggest taking it to the dealer and getting that checked out as well. I've seen BRZ owners bring them in and have it fixed for no charge.

What he said. Put the incandescent bulb back in first and see if it still happens. If the incandescent bulb dims all the way down, then you might need to tap a resistor into the wiring.

Thanks. If there is an issue with the BUI, is the dealership going to give me a hard time for replacing the OEM incandescents?

Personally, I would go to the dealership with the incandescents installed.

I highly doubt it, but if you have LEDs installed, they will probably blame it on that regardless of any factual information about LEDs

Precisely. This man knows.

Oh yes, lol trust me

I've heard some pretty good ones....

Customer: My headlights were working before I went into the dealer, now they don't work and the dealer says I need new headlight housings at $alotxxamount

Me: Are the bulbs connected?

Customer: No, nothing is connected to the bulbs

Me: Plug the bulbs back in to see if it works

Customer: My headlights work! Thanks

Me: Dealers unplugged them? Why....:( lol

Not all dealers are like this obviously, but it does get frustrating. I hate when they try to take advantage of customers.
