As posted in other thread:

For those of you wanting to go to this event, all I can say is:

Brake fluid and better-than-stock pads are a must if you want to drive more than 2-3 laps at a time.

Got my Project Mu brake pads and fluid from CSG. Prepping my car before the track day! :)
@CSG Mike, some questions for you:

What tire pressure (cold) would you recommend for Michelin PSS on stock wheels?

Does a front splitter actually helps?

What do you think of 245/40/17 on a 17x8 for daily/track use? Which tires would you recommend?

Thanks!

See you guys there! It will be my first track day on my FBM Kit, FBM radiator, and FBM Oil Cooler. Should be interesting though, I put down my first sub 1:30 time at Streets last time I went with just springs and sticky 245's and I was oversteering all over the place with stock motor :sigh: :burnrubber:

Would you mind allowing us to collect some data from your car? We'd like to see how the FBM turbo does on track.

Front splitters are absolutely beneficial, but if you increase front grip without increasing rear, you'll get a looser car as you get to higher speeds.

245/40/17 on a 8" is "in spec", but on the narrow end for the rim width. However, it'll be great for both DD and track use. You'll have more grip than a narrower tire, but slightly less steering feedback.

I can't really recommend a cold pressure, but 30psi will be a good starting point. Check your pressures IMMEDIATELY after you come off track every session, or if it feels loose, pull into the hot pit and check. You generally want to be between 36 and 38 hot, although exceptions exist.

How do you increase rear grip if using a front splitter?

Would you suggest 235 on a 8" or should I go for a bit wider wheels for 245?

Rear aero, like a wing or diffuser.

Most people don't like wings for daily driving, but something like a Voltex or APR can be taken off fairly easily (under 2 minutes).

We just want to track some temps and timing advance.

I can take you for some laps in your car if you'd like as well.

It was another beautiful day at Willow Springs but this time at the big track! Temps ranged from 55°F in the morning to about 75°F in the afternoon with a clear sky and some heavy crosswinds.

We had several returning competitors as well as handful of new folks and almost everyone walked home with a plaque to commerate their finishes :)

Thanks again to everyone who came out to compete and we hope you had a good time! @retrosmiths @deange @JDKane527 @juliog

Also @juliog was kind enough to snap a few pics from the event!

As always everyone is welcome to come out to these events whether it's your first time on track or if you're a grizzled veteran! See you next week at Buttonwillow!
