Car/Ambient temperature to log data
 

So pretty basic question. What temperature is ideal for the car to be at before logging data? Reason i ask is because with the winter here, it takes much longer for the cars to warm up than in the summer.

Summertime Ambient temperature is around 70-80 degrees.
Wintertime Ambient temperature is around 30-50 degrees.

Does the outside temperature really make a difference, or is all that matters is the car is warmed up, and if so, what is ideal?

I always go for oil temp over 80C but don't allow much over 100C, coolant temps should be fine by then. To me that's all I care about. Obviously keeping an eye on IATs for behaviour but not much else.

Sounds good to me. I usually log around 80-90, so sounds like we are on the same page. It seems like the car temp is much more important than the ambient temp.

So long as you know the potential effects of differing IATs then the rest doesn't matter. Ideally for logging you want to keep ambient conditions as consistent as possible but we live in the real world. Logging at the same time of year should be good enough as air temperatures won't swing a huge amount. If you want to do changes and you haven't logged for 6 months etc, why not do a fresh pre-change log in the warmer/colder climates and then do the updates and re-log as necessary.

Whats the accepted range on our IAT? Any ideas? i tried to search, but IAT cant be searched...ugh.

Which tuning platform do you use? Just keep in mind big changes of temp can affect AFRs, it won't be massive but you may notice differences. Hot intake temps could make the car more prone to knock, but again it would have to be pretty warm. There's a table for timing corrections made against IAT that you can check to see what the OEM thought a good idea to pull timing. IIRC its 60/70c before anything happens.
