How much rubbing is too much rubbing?

Hi Guys,

I am running RCE Yellows on stock dampers (planning to replace them with Koni Yellows soon). I have 18x9.5 +35 TC105ns with 245/35 Michelin PSS.

I am getting a little rubbing when I pull out of my driveway and I turn the wheel all the way to the right. It feels like my my car is shuttering a little bit (not exactly an accurate description but can't think of the right word)

I took my wheels off a few weeks ago and I noticed that there was a black mark on my RCE Yellows, which I am guessing is the tire rubbing against the suspension. Some parts were worn through where I could see the metal of the suspension, only a small bit though.

I suppose an easy remedy would be to not turn the wheel fully when I get out of my driveway. But I was just wondering if a little bit of rubbing is bad?

Thanks in advance gents

Throw on some 5mm spacers on fronts for sure, only thing is already a very aggressive offset. So if you don't want much more poke, don't want rub you need to either

A.) get different wheels / offset
B.) coilovers

That'/ your choices or wait till something wears through at worst time I suppose.

Or I could not turn the wheel all the way! LOL

I plan on keeping an eye on it, but I am guessing it is only rubbing when I feel that "shuddering"? Thanks

Worry a lot more about your tires than your springs when you're checking things out. No more than some scuffs on the sidewalls are fine but if there's any gouging, try even 3mm spacers and possibly new tires if it's bad.

Don't be silly! Did you really ask if improper clearance is bad?

"That's what you mother said last night!"

Personally I wouldn't take any rubbing at all.

Yeh I looked at the tires and there were no gouges. The tires looked perfectly fine, I'll check again tonight when I get a chance.

Sounds to me like your wheels and tires are too aggressive for the front. I would do 18 8.5 and 235 40 tires. That probably would fix it.

P.S. that offset etc for the rear is good though.

Funny thing is that people have the same wheel setups, higher offsets than I do, stock suspension, and they are not getting any rubbing.

Like mike says, alignment has a lot to do with rubbing. Also, 245 is pretty wide for tires up front. I think I have seen 240 45 be a bit of a benchmark for the front. But tires run different sizes too, it is a crap shoot if you aren't an expert, which I am not, but I have experience with stuff like this.

any rubbing is too much rubbing. That shit gets annoying when cornering.
