How to disable the 120 kph warning - UAE

Just bought my GT86 and the 120 kph warning does not stop!

I don't mind being warned but mine just keeps going above 120 kph instead of stopping.

Anybody know how to turn it off completely or just have a couple of beeps as you pass 120 kph?

Thanks.

This has been posted a couple times and no one seems to have an answer. I spent a good amount of time googling it and came up with zip

There's no programming for this. It must be removed physically via opening the lower dash. And normally dealers avoid doing that due to GCC traffic regulations

I read somewhere that the dealer can re-programme the car to tell the ECU that it it in a different territory - i.e. Europe. And this will disable the beep altogether. Anybody confirm this?

spoke to the technician directly and he confirmed that ECU programming for this issue is still not available for our region :sigh:

This is one of those projects that I want to sort out over this coming December. Will take my instrument cluster apart and remove the buzzer from it. This seems to be the only way to get this done.

Every American car I have all do the same: one ding and that's it. Not this annoying continues dinging.

I would be quite happy to pay you to do mine at the same time. Can you PM me so we can co-ordinate? Thanks.

I think this needs a DIY. There's plenty of 86/BRZ owners in the region

I need to do the first one to see where the buzzer is and if it is a workable solution. I know it has been done on other Toyota's in the past. Just need the time to do it...

This is a problem for a specific region, my GT86 does not have this "feature".
It can either be controlled by the ECU or some extra circuit added to your cars.
If controlled by the ECU it may be possible to alter the settings with Toyota Techstream software, have any of you tried that?
If it's some extra circuit it's just a matter of finding it and yanking it out.

Got the cable and software and tested on my car. Very limited with what you can actually change, but this was nowhere to be found in the techstream software.

Might be able to change it if using the full system from Toyota but they will not even entertain the idea of disabling it.

Techstream is the software the dealers uses to disable seatbelt warnings etc as well as doing diagnostics, so if you didn't find it there the 120 km/h thing is probably not in the ECU but rather a "black box" circuit somewhere.
Happy hunting :-)
