Remove Rear EBrake Guard

Has anyone else had to remove the rear e-brake guards on a BRZ/FRS when running large width wheels? I've got a bit of rubbing between my wheels and the guards when running enkei raijin 18x9.5" +45 wheels in the rear. I feel as though I could safely remove the guards, maybe bend them out of the way and reinstall. Has anyone had to go through this? Is there any danger from removing this part? Any help would be appreciated.

I bent them instead of removing them ... but yeah - I had to do that because they scraped the inside of my TE37SLs .... My wheel specs are 18x9 +45 offset with 255/35 Z2s

I went ahead and pulled them off for now. They are pretty hard to bend, so I wasn't able to get it without my vise, which I currently don't have due to being in the middle of a move. They came off with very little force and I didn't even have to lift the car. I may take them by a shop and see if they can bend them for me. I feel a lot better knowing that there is clearance for my wheels now. It was making me quite nervous to do any hard cornering!
