Anybody running 255/35R18 tire on +45 offset wheel in front?
I've searched haven't found anybody with the specific setup of 255/35R18 tires on 9.5 +45 offset wheels and I am concerned about the front inner clearance with the liner by the firewall or any suspension arms (not the outer fender lip/sidemarker) at full lock. I am lowered 1.4" on coilovers with -1.9 degrees of camber in front.

Anyone here with that setup? Someone told me thru PM that their rear MPSS 265/35 tires on 18x9.5 +45 wheels rub a tab where the rear bumper meets the fender. I'm thinking of going same sized wheel but 255/35 MPSS. Should I expect to rub? Does lowering it too far also increase the chance of rub? I don't want to lower more than 1.4" and hope that would be enough for the tire to fully clear.

My 265's just barely rubbed the rear fender tabs. With 255's I bet you won't rub at all.
The lower you go, the more camber you get on the rear. At first I had about 2" lower, then raised to 1.5" lower, and I still needed to trim the fender tabs. No big deal though, took 30 seconds with a dremel. With 255's you'll be fine I think. In front, with 8.5" wheels, there's plenty of room at the fender. I could use a 5mm spacer to get perfectly flush. Someone who's run the 9.5's in front will have to comment, but from what I've read, as long as you have coilovers you'll be OK. |

@OP, it really depends on your road condition. I'm on ST Coils, 255/35 all around 18x9.5 +38 (7mm away from urs)
I don't think you have the chance to rub your perch. I have about 2 inches clearance from the front struts. You will only worry about your fender tabs when you lower further than 1.2". I'm on 1.6-1.7 lowered. |
It should work, but you might need a 3-5mm spacer in the front so you don't rub on any end links at full lock.
I ran 17x9 et45 with 255/40/17 with KWs before I had camber plates which is pretty similar and I rubbed the wheel on the sway bar end link (strano parts FSB). But the tires rubbed on nothing though. Now I have camber plates, adjustable sway bar end links and 5mm spacers to get the wheels out a touch. |
Any idea what camber you plan on running? Most setups I've read about with 18x9.5 square and 255/35/18's end up with around -2 camber all around to make it work.
Which would most likely require the OEM camber bolt up front like you said and some lower control arms in the rear (or some whiteline camber correcting bushings but I've read LCA's are much easier to correct camber with). |
+45 is not an aggressive offset. why not try smaller offset or run spacers?

OP you should be fine. I'm running around -2 degrees all around on 18x.9.5 +40. Tires are 255, 35, 18.

So I've decided on Hankook Ventus V12 tires which have a 10.2" sectional width and 8.7" tread width, narrower than most other tires in its class as well as lighter at 23 lbs. Because of its unusual narrowness, I'm so confident it'll work that I'm now toying with the idea of V12 265/35R18 tires and no fender work. Anyone try anything like that?
