Abs and Traction Light
1 Attachment(s)
Hey guys so this is the third time this has happened to me, cruising down the road and my abs and traction lights come on, not pushing the car or doing anything crazy just randomly comes on I havent checked if the abs or traction is still working(i.e launching or hitting the breaks) but after they come on I turn the car off and they go away, I'll probably take it to the dealer this week but has anyone else experienced this? The car hasn't been in any accidents or any incidents with curbs approx 45 000km on her

You could try disconnecting the battery to see if the ECU will re-set it.
However, it would be best to have a dealer look at it ..... it may be a bad sensor. humfrz |
Did you solve your problem? what was the cause of it?
|
This recently has started happening to my car as well... has anyone had any luck?
|
Did anybody mess with the clock spring? That can cause it.
|
Anyone know the cause?
These lights came on for the first time this morning for my BRZ too. I'm at 25K miles. |
Pull the code and post back. Usually its a wheel speed sensor or brake pedal sensor adjustment issue.

I had this happen at about 17K miles in heavy rain. I scanned for codes, but Torque showed nothing. Shutting the car off and restarting cleared it. I'm up over 21K now, and it has never come back, so I choose not to worry about it.
I think it has to do with a wheel sensor either failing or getting dirty. |
I had this problem, the lights would turn on randomly and reset when the car turned off. Turns out my brake light switch near the brake pedal was shorted. From the responses I've found here, the 2 lights could come on for numerous problems, not just what I had.
Edit: I should add that while it was all toasted inside (I opened it up), it still worked well enough for the brake lights to function. |
So - stupid reason for my problem - brake fuse.
They didn't cover it since i have mega-mods on the tails (i.e. Tom's LED tails and the Valenti LED Reverse/Brake light combo hooked in too). They just charged me for 30-min. and a fuse = $65 CAD - I didn't argue. Just a warning to people using a/m tails or LED bulbs in them - keep fuses handy! I must have been driving around without brake lights too then - no wonder they lock you into Park on an auto - they don't want you driving around without brake lights either! I wonder what, if anything, a blown brake fuse does on a manual? Someone remove thier brake fuse and report back? |
Just left the dealer about this problem I had the lights on but no codes that I could see with my obdII. They said it was a breaking switch that has gone out. Put a new one and so far no problems. They covered it under warranty at 36k with no cost to me. Hope it helps

It would be nice to go back to my dealer with info. It was just convenient for them to blame my Toms tails and Valenti reverse lights for the blown fuse. Thanks |

What was written was 31714 Verified last visit that ABS light off code stored codes C1249 brake light switch malfunction. inspection erratic operation test and replaced brake light switch. Adjusted switch and adjustment is good. Light working Basically they said the switch under the pedal was malfunctioning and they had to place in a 83311FG000 Switch Stop Lamp. But my symptoms were the same as the original poster with the ABS and traction control lights coming on constantly. They covered under warranty and knew exactly what is was when I showed the them what was happening so I assume I am not the first to come in with it. Edit: Additionally the car has been driven while I was gone by my wife and the lights have not come back so its been almost a month with no problems so I think they got it |
