Stall/Torque Converter

Has anyone changed, modified or tuned their Torque Coverter? I have the FBM Stage 1 Premium Turbo set up and not being able to power brake to spin some tires is a little bothersum when a Cobra pulls up and burns his tires! Then the light goes green he pulls a car length then I fly by them going into third.

This ain't no 60/70s American muscle car foo

I am sure you could have it done but with not being able to access and modify the transmission parameters it could cause a lot of issues. Same concern I have with modding the valve body.

South Side Performance was supposed to be offering all kinds of stuff for the auto...I'm not really sure what happened with that...

Interesting....maybe the foo should do some research. I call people like you Ignorant! To cure your case of ignorance, their is a Toyota Service Bulletin that in mechanical terms" which I dont have time to teach you" is a weekness of the vehicle. Just a little knowledge for you though...if one day you pay someone to put a turbo on your car, no you would need a SC because it doesn't require as much mecbanical knowledge. Then maybe you will take the time to learn about Stall and Torque Coverters. On these cars they are set at around 2200 rpm, thus not letting the turbo spool and release the Torque to the transmission to spin tires.

If you dont have anything constructive to say about the Topic, then get the hell off the forum and go kick some rocks!

The only issues I have had in the past was dialing them in for the specific turbo and you definitely will want a coolant system added to the trans fluid. Once they where tuned, they ran great as long as you dont fo crazy and above 4k. Unless you have a funny car on the track doing wheelies down the 60!

I have no problem power braking my mildly modified AT FRS. Did you forget to turn off the TC? Maybe you're pushing the brake pedal too hard?

If you still want to modify the trans/TC, try calling Level Ten and/or Import Performance Transmission.

DeOppressorLiber 11-16-2013 11:32 AM

I never drive it with the the TC on. It will do it sometimes and then other times go straight to 2k and the boost blow off!

I brake torqe my auto all the time. its how i launch in autocross. you just have to modulate the brake while you are doing it and you can spin the tires in place.

Now if you are talking about trying to rev to 4k sitting still and no tires spinning thats a different story. there is a thread in the autocross section where we talk about launching the automatic

No revving in a race. I just want to warm my tires with some spin. It will do it every now and then. What do you mean by modulate the brake? This is what happens. The TC and all is off, I press the brake and floor it, engine revs to around 22-25k and stops their! I let off the gas and the boost comes out the BOV!

feldy 11-16-2013 01:30 PM

You have to modulate the brake you can't just stand on it. You have to do about 75 percent brakes then mash the gas. I have go pro footage of me doing in that thread just go check it out and get back to me.

feldy 11-16-2013 01:32 PM

It just hit me you started that thread that I posted in. Posted a few videos in it. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48499

It just takes a certain feel. Car can brake stand like crazy on stock power. Should be able to with minor boost at those RPMs.....

feldy 11-16-2013 02:54 PM

This. I can do it on stock power with big wide sticky tires. It took a lot of practice to get it down though.
