It was pretty easy to install. Very straight forward. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7326/1...be743fa3_c.jpg lowered! Alignment was pretty bad afterwards and it was eating up the tire. Traction control was going off like crazy. http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2867/1...576bdb3d_c.jpg New set of Tom's led tail lights. http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2836/1...7875e30e_c.jpg lights installed http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2829/1...3e7005dd_c.jpg lights on http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3810/1...54c24b75_c.jpg Got it aligned to factory specs for now. Camber is set to zero. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7411/1...b390f5b8_c.jpg aligned http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7421/1...b08d8487_c.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7340/1...dafa6eb5_c.jpg getting the roof chopped off. I'm going to have it cleared later on. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7381/1...4408ecee_c.jpg At my buddy Toni's paint shop Pro Auto & Collisions in garland. He's painted all my cars / bikes for the past 7 years or so. Great work at a reasonable price. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7429/1...d9986060_c.jpg Side vent's and hood vents being painted. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7419/1...4d0972cc_c.jpg painted csl trunk with carbon fiber fade http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2864/1...128282de_c.jpg Carbon hood painted http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7331/1...d18daefe_c.jpg Pearls matched up nicely http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5528/1...41fc8fe4_c.jpg side vents & hood vents finished. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7378/1...848a2e6b_c.jpg removing the old trunk http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3828/1...7f247c48_c.jpg This was easy. It took about 10 mins to take off. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3810/1...55df3f03_c.jpg New trunk on. It fits pretty good. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5508/1...d3876e42_c.jpg Hood is on. I had to widen the holes for the hood hinges to adjust the hood forward. It still bulges up a bit higher than the fender. I'll probably modify the hinges later. close up on the vents http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2809/1...2925e29b_c.jpg At certain angles you can see the fiji green accents http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2885/1...58317143_c.jpg From a far it looks more subtle. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3787/1...c0f11bcb_c.jpg http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2836/1...edb624d0_c.jpg About to install the turbo. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5546/1...60d4b457_c.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7292/1...540b52a9_c.jpg Pulling everything apart to install the turbo. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3675/1...ced3db7e_c.jpg parts http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7332/1...831e8aa0_c.jpg http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5543/1...be6114e4_c.jpg Had to weld these fittings in that hold the screws for the intercooler. The instruction says to use a step drill and rivet them in but that didn't work. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5517/1...19045efe_c.jpg Took it to the exhaust shop and they did it for free. I tipped him 10 bucks. Pronto Mufflers in plano. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3725/1...ec7c7473_c.jpg Everything's pretty much in. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3766/1...03d9013c_c.jpg So while the headlights are out... http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7310/1...683e4119_c.jpg Lets bake them for dinner :) http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5484/1...3d9a1310_c.jpg Got it all pulled apart. It was pretty easy. Set oven to 350, preheat, let it sit in for 5-8 mins and it should pull apart. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3792/1...b7c7d446_c.jpg some sanding.. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5545/1...8975d38a_c.jpg More sanding to come.. http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2810/1...2e46ecc3_c.jpg Masking http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3721/1...3f92c120_c.jpg Sand the chrome as much as possible. Paint doesn't like to stick to it. http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2856/1...fbf08aee_c.jpg Finished. You can do the flat black for the whole headlight and it'll cost only a dollar from home depot! http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3684/1...ff1579c7_c.jpg assembly. I left the chrome piece because it goes in the back of the led strip because I wanted the light to stay bright. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7393/1...353c9248_c.jpg coming together. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5485/1...da85c6a2_c.jpg finished product. The lens needs to be cleaned. I added some rtv gasket sealant and it sealed up fine. http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2874/1...620d77a0_c.jpg checking the wiring. Everything's good. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5502/1...e1c7550d_c.jpg Looks blacked out from a far. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5541/1...aab3b5f8_c.jpg Another shot of the lights. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5491/1...79bf23c6_c.jpg Got some exhaust from (http://www.topspeedauto.com) They're a local shop here in town that imports these. Retail is around 400 bucks. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7413/1...e1cf80bd_c.jpg Weld quality is nice. http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2844/1...06344b14_c.jpg Another shot of the welds http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2806/1...e7c74f6a_c.jpg They even sanded out the inside welds for better flow. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5529/1...b8b6e0e5_c.jpg resonator http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7306/1...4df9423f_c.jpg New hardware and gasket. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3714/1...2f91e64d_c.jpg On the race ramps http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3786/1...a6596233_c.jpg Old vs New http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5500/1...a888a123_c.jpg Installed in about 10 minutes. It was pretty simple. There's 4 x 14mm bolts holding it on with some 12mm nuts. Very straight forward. Use some WD-40 to loosen the rubber mounts and it will pop right out. http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2891/1...34bb1fd8_c.jpg 4.5" burnt tips http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3701/1...cf302f37_c.jpg Fitment was perfect! Exhaust isn't broken in yet. It was super quiet at first but after a drive it got louder. So far it's pretty mellow and not obnoxious. I'll upload more later... |
My kit was running great for two days then all the sudden it was at zero boost. Felt like it was back at stock. It wasn't a boost leak.
http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3750/1...dd461310_c.jpg Found the problem to be the cotter pin that holds the acuator lever on was too small. It probably fell off or broke off. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5494/1...468b087c_c.jpg Drilled the hole with a bigger drill bit. http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2834/1...c00da565_c.jpg http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2859/1...d62f4ed7_c.jpg Installed a bigger cotter pin. Hopefully it should hold up better now. Second issue was it was leaking oil behind the oil pump where the camshaft is. RTV sealant was used as directed in the instructions but it didn't hold up well. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5495/1...495b0992_c.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3833/1...c715d81c_c.jpg Pump removed with old sealant. http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2886/1...c4d1b18b_c.jpg All the pieces cleaned up and old sealant removed. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5510/1...cff0d2f7_c.jpg New sealant to be used. This is what toyota uses from the factory. It sets in about 15 minutes so you don't have to wait 24hrs before it can be driven. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5547/1...9a69e475_c.jpg The block side was cleaned off and new sealant applied. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7451/1...5d2659a9_z.jpg Final assembly. http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2860/1...8beb6c18_c.jpg Done for now. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7460/1...8027da02_c.jpg Got these Forester turbo gaskets that will be installed soon. There's a minor leak but not that noticeable now. Hope this helps in case you guys run into issues. The car feels good now.. dyno tune next week! 12.19.13 Here's an update. I just picked up the race version of this exhaust for some spirited driving on weekends. The quiet version was nice because I can hear the blow off from the turbo better. However, this one is much louder and 2.5" piping made a significant difference for exhaust flow. It now has some backfire so I'll need to get it tuned. Yes, it does drone so I would not recommend if you daily it and have low tolerance to noise. I know you can pick up any type of similiar exhaust on ebay for about the same price but Top Speed has provided me with amazing service. A lot of the members on here have been asking what kind of hood I have and it is seibon. It fits like crap in real life. There's a huge gap by the fenders which is a manufactering defect. I contacted the vendor I purchased it from (evasive motorsports) and they wouldn't do anything. They even said seibon wouldn't do anything and offered me 5% off my next purchase (what a joke). :( Anyways, George at Top Speed took pictures of the hood and contacted Seibon directly. Hopefully they'll get my issue resolved. If not, at least they tried and I'll order a nicer quality hood from Japan. Here's the link to the race exhaust on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Scion-FRS-Su...148e18&vxp=mtr Anyways, I'll try to get a video together soon. Today was pretty windy so I don't think my camera picked up the sound very well. It really brought out the boxer rumble especially with my avo uel headers. :D http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3727/1...3f0548c9_c.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7300/1...1c24db09_c.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7303/1...a312bcb8_c.jpg http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5526/1...d6df0404_c.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7409/1...6f7f41e0_c.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3810/1...beab63ce_c.jpg Update for 01.28.14 http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5512/1...21c52ebf_c.jpg Top Speed Auto in Addison ordered a new hood from Seibon for me since the previous one purchased from another vendor didn't fit properly. This one turned out nice! I'll be painting the car a different color so it's just exposed carbon for now. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5546/1...2a84a7fb_c.jpg http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5538/1...75c2d28d_c.jpg Just got these new Ohlins R&T suspension in today. My kw v3 & vorslag camber plates are for sale if anyone's interested. http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2863/1...441f34b8_c.jpg Installed Perrin 3" cold air intake last night. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5545/1...129f89cf_c.jpg http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5492/1...757a172c_c.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3680/1...2c8da1e6_c.jpg Finally got to fit my Ings bumper that's been sitting for a while. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3734/1...4b25f366_c.jpg rear tires for new wheels that are coming http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...20Wheels/9.jpg Just placed my order for a set of MORR VS52 1 piece wheels. I'm getting these in 19x10 front & 19x12 rear :D Update. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7341/1...32aeb98f_c.jpg Installing ohlins. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3667/1...eebe335c_c.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3730/1...d4eeac0b_c.jpg http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5503/1...bb6d104a_c.jpg Before shot, with the kw v3's installed. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7374/1...47a92a2e_c.jpg Front installed. We adjusted it lower after. This was about stock height. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7460/1...f170cdf0_c.jpg Rear installed. http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2855/1...60c2e0c8_c.jpg My buddy doing the alignment. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3790/1...950102bd_c.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3729/1...8401dced_c.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7384/1...f5f59258_c.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7391/1...af8c4dcb_c.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3786/1...787e37b8_c.jpg After alignment. This is the max low it goes. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7417/1...25a32c83_c.jpg The ride after was amazing! I have it 7 clicks from firmest and it does not make my head explode. It handles a lot better than the kw v3's. If you're looking for low ride height, I would not recommend these. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7406/1...769ccda0_c.jpg Over pipe from Top Speed Auto. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7305/1...1deee2b4_c.jpg Cat-less front pipe from Top Speed Auto. Both fit 100% spot on. Quality is well worth the price of $179. I will be upgrading to 3" later but I wanted to see how the catless would work out. It smells from the outside but inside it's okay. It opened up the car a bit and I can definitely notice more power. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7376/1...ee489da6_c.jpg No cats! |

Love that carbon hood. Exactly what I've been wanted to do. Now I know what it'll look like and I thank you for it. ;)

fitment kinda sucks.. I think I need to modify the hinges. It bulges up right now. |
Noted. I will most likely go with Varis hood so I'm hoping to have a little better fitment.
