Springs/coilover recommendations?
I've been reading tons of threads for the past couple hours but haven't gotten any definitive answers on a lot of things, so help me out please!
What I'm looking for: - Lower the car by 1" on all 4 corners - Same ride quality as stock, or softer if possible (It is my daily driver) - Within a $1000 budget, possibly a little more Options I was looking at: - Eibach Pro-kit springs + stock shocks/struts - ST Coilovers The only issue with the ST coilovers is that I live in a snowy state where roads are salted and I'm not sure how they'll hold up against corrosion. Reviews I read of the Pro-kit springs say they have a slightly harsher ride than stock springs, though I don't know if this is improved by changing shocks/struts. Some questions: Are there any other lowering springs that come with new bump stops? Don't really like the idea of cutting the stock ones. (This is why I like the Pro-kit springs). For a 1" drop, do I need to buy anything in addition to springs / coilovers and getting an alignment? Thanks for the help and recommendations! |
Bilstein B14 would be good to retain the stock ride quality but a little firmer. It is corrosion resistant, but it's a little over your budget.

Will I need new camber bolts or anything else with a 1" drop? Considering going to an 8" wide rim / 235 tire in the rear as well. Staying 7" wide rim / 215 tire in the front. |
Unless you have a burning desire to get coilovers, the Pro-Kit fits the bill perfectly. It's a very near stock ride and will give you a 1" drop. Camber bolts certainly wouldn't hurt, and I would definitely suggest an alignment after installing new springs. I would estimate you can have a pro-kit and koni Yellows installed and aligned for under your budget while maintaining ride quality.
