Greddy SP Elite cold start rattles

Anyone else with this system experience this? Is there a way to make it stop??

resonated front pipe, i had the same problem

I had a sp elite, paired up with headers + non resonated front pipe and it sounded bad

i bought a resonated front pipe and it helped big time.

I still have the stock catted 1 in, you really think a resonated 1 would make a big difference?

oh what.... lol nvm then

You may have some other problem going on.

the stock one is catted and resonated.

mine only rasped becaseu of the headers. if you have none of thta then your greddy could have a problem

It's fuckin used...is Greddy quality something I need to worry about falling apart? Or am I just over thinking this and there is just rubbing I haven't seen yet? It looks like its in perfect shape

im also running mine with stock everything else. no problems here after around 5000 miles. i'd say make sure its still tight and sitting straight

Damn. I'll have to have my local shop check it out. It's pretty bad when cold and takes about 5 mins to go away 90%. Only barely rattles when under light load after warm-up.

Are you sure it's not an exhaust leak?

Mine leaked with the included gasket, when cold, not matter how tight the bolts were.

I ended up using two stock gaskets, with the metal lips facing outward on each.. sealed up perfectly.

I'm assuming its something along those lines. I'm leaving work 30 mins early today to catch my local exhaust shop (awesome service) and see what they can't uncover. I don't make boatloads of money so a purchase like this that has problems really stresses me out :(

Also how did you discover that was the problem?

frslee 11-04-2013 01:29 PM

isn't SP Elite just an axle back? If so, check if the exhaust is touching any other metals.

DarkCard 11-04-2013 02:17 PM

Never had a issue with mine.

SliverBrz 11-04-2013 02:38 PM

If its an exhaust leak, you only have one joint to check since its an axle back.

Put copper silicone gasket maker in there and you are good.

autozone its liek 5$

How do I check if this is the cause?

an exhaust leak is pretty easy to diagnose since you can hear it. Now the rattle, does it sound like it's metal on metal, or squeaking, etc?
