RGM Special
Just noticed that the RGM supercharger kit is on special for R79k including the exhaust (on their website).
What's the consensus on the RGM kit - Worth it? Too expensive? |
Here's the link to their site. It's currently the first item on the page: http://www.rgmotorsport.com/
NB: I'm not affiliated with them in any way by posting their site info. |
A lot of us can't afford it, me included. That said - it shunts and is a high quality conversion and proving itself on the streets and on the strip. Check out RGM on Facebook for some evidence...

My biggest gripe with the RGM kit is the fact that they are using the UniQ chip for the ECU.
My experience with Honda's have shown how inferior these products are compared to proper flash tuners. RGM insisted that the UniQ worked and was the best thing for the Honda K-series engines but have since been proven so wrong by Hondata's Flashpro / K-Pro, that no K-series Honda owner now uses the UniQ on their cars. UniQ vs Flashpro unit for K20 Honda engines. The UniQ could only adjust fueling and timing, but not the continuous variable valve timing and lift which the I-VTec controlled. The Flashpro could not only change where VTec engaged, but by how much the cam angles and valve lift vary at each point of the rev range. I am sure our FA20 engines will experience the same limitations on the UniQ Why RGM is not using the EcuTek Flash Tuning unit is beyond me. Flash tuning beats plug and play chips 99.99% of the time. Oh, and their kit excludes an intercooler and for 80k I would expect one. Personally, if I was in JHB, I would rather let NxGen Performance work on my car. They are EcuTek agents. Would be interesting to see a comparative quote from them http://www.nxgen.co.za/ |
Hi . I just ordered in a Gready Turbo kit and in the process to find a managment system.
I was impressed with ECUTEC and flash tunning and still heading in that direction, but I still struggle to get proper support in Cape Town. The Master turners in SA are limited and not very flexible. I must say my experience with the local ECUTEC team was not a plesant one (Finding ways to get tunning done form Cape Town ). So I am still stuck on a my quest to find a management kit option while my Turbo Kit is in shipment. |

Pyro Performance are the ecutec agents in CT. They've done a number of scoobies with ecutec in CT.
@Fuzz, the reason RGM went with UniQ instead of ecutec or a full management is because they only need to adjust fuelling & timing. They are not changing the cams or adjusting the cam timing. If you were to put in bigger cams or advance the cams, then I'd say yes, go for a more comprehensive management system. But then you would also need to always run octane booster or avgas or perhaps include a water meth kit. Thus the cost would end up much higher. But as the system is, the UniQ more than suffices. |
