TE37V: DIREZZA DZ101 245/40R17 or NT555 235/45ZR17

Hi,

I've picked up a set of TE37V 17x9 rims along with RCE Yellow springs. My problem has come with sourcing tires in UAE.

After calling around different places looking for something relatively cheap but still half decent. (PSS on PassatCCv6 experience) I'll pretty much come down to two different tires based on size, cost and overall internet impressions.

Dunlop DZ101 245/40R17 or Nitto NT555 235/45ZR17, Dunlop's cost 544USD and Nitto's 397USD. My ultimate issue is that I wanted 235/40/17 unfortunately not available anywhere I can find.

Which tire would you go for and why?

Cheers!

Sam

Go for Dunlop DZ101 245/40R17
This is almost like the factory setup Diameter (in %) while the 235/45/17 is about 2.5% off.
Also, 235 will be a bit streched on 9" wheels

I agree with bee, that or a MPSS both would serve excellent.

One more option to add to the list.

Nitto Invo 225/45R1, please don't suggest other brands or tires since its very hard to get different sizes in the uae.

Thanks!

I see a lot of people running 225/45/17 on 17x9 rims? Here's some links to those pages.

Hope this helps!

I really liked the INVO's for 'swap-ability' left to right, as directionals prevent this.

The INVO's would be the most 'street' type of tire you have listed, as the Direzza and NT555 are more like autocross stickies, iirc. the Invos would last longer for regular use, unless you like the stick and don't mind replacing worn tires in about 12k-17k miles.

Hope it helps, if you like the stretch, then what I said above doesn't really matter due to a limited contact patch.

I know someone who autocrosses on DZ101's and he's not overly impressed with them. I'd go with the NT555's since they're cheaper.

Did you happen to do a 5x114.3 hub swap? or are you using adapters?

Not a fan of the 555 nitto. Had them on a few previous cars. Ok dry traction, bad wet traction. I buy Michelin tires now. My $.02

245/40-17 is the best size in my opinion

235/40/17 is just not a common sized tire. You won't find many options there. 245/40/17 is nearly identical in diameter to factory, so just do that.

Thanks a million dude!

I've gone through and it seems I might have issues with rubbing considering most of the guys are running coilovers with 1.##" drop and -2.0 degree camber.

I'm only throwing on the RCE Yellow springs which yield 1" drop and camber bolts which from my research will give you around -1.0 degree of camber.

Anyone can chime in...
