All in 1 Day - Plasti Dip Emblem & Wheel + Caliper Paint (First timer)
Finally hit hit triggers on plasti dip stuff, never done it before. but it seems fun and low cost to put on some cosmetic.
Plasti dip the dash board. Red plasti dip, apply 4-5 coats on it and only used little over half can. Then use Glossifier to finish up with 2 coats. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...%2009%20PM.jpg https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...6/IMG_0977.JPG Plasti dip the back seat 2 piece caps. Same, use red plasti dip apply 3-4 coats then finish with 2 coats of Glossifier. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...6/IMG_0974.JPG Plasti dip the stock wheel. I used Vintage Gold, apply 6-7 coats and used 4 cans total for 4 wheels. Finish with the Glossifer about 3-4 coats at the end. The note cards are very helpful. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...%2032%20PM.jpg https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...%2019%20PM.jpg https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...%2014%20PM.jpg Plasti Dip the emblem with Vintage Gold as well. I also put on Glossifier on the emblem as well, looks little shinny under sunshine. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...%2020%20PM.jpg https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...%2030%20PM.jpg Caliper Paint on stock break caliper https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...%2000%20PM.jpg https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...%2055%20PM.jpg Final Turn out https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...%2028%20PM.jpg https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...%2008%20PM.jpg https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...%2020%20PM.jpg |
Wow, I didn't think this much could be done in one day. Did you do anything to prepare for the plasti-dip on the wheels? I heard you have to clean the wheels and then afterwards apply some kind of special spray before the plasti-dip. Then after the pasti-dip you have to spray a few different things on.

I am first timer, before I thought plasti dip was complicate but it was totally much easier and simpler then it was. I clean up the wheel with water and soap, let it be total dry. apply the first coat of plasti dip, have to be very light on the first coat. wait 10-15 minute then apply the second coat. wait 10-15 min then apply 3rd coat, and same as the 4th coat. After the plasti dip get dried, I just put 2-3 coats of Glossifier on the wheel. I use the wait time between the plasting to clean my caliper break with the de-grease break cleaner that you can get from autozone or walmart. I use VHT red caliper paint, it works flawlessly. I had the car to be sit in the garage over night to let the caliper paint be total dry before use. |
looking great!
I've been pondering about doing the classic gold on my wheels on WRB BRZ Where did you get your dip from? |
How do you go about plasti dipping around the lug holes? What does it look like close up?
