HELP kw coilover top hat install problem

this is prob an obvious thing, but I'm putting my kw coilovers on n I gotta swap the stock top hats on. I can't get the bolt to thread on more than a tiny bit coz the strut keeps spinning what so I do?

I atructions say take the rubber out of the to hat? Wtf?

If the shaft is spinning you can use an allen key to hols it in place and a open wrench or socket to turn the nut.

I think the KW's have a 7mm hex on the end of the shock shaft. You need to use a pass through socket driver for the top nut while using a 1/4" Drive 7mm ratchet to hold the shaft in place.

You can also use a strap wrench to hold the shaft in place.

You don't need to get a special wrench. Put a socket on the nut, use vice grips to grab the socket. Then use an allen key to hold the shaft from spinning. Now turn the vice grip.

the kw's don't have an Allen key on top, a 9mm socket fit over it, but my 90* wrenches didn't fit. Literally only way yo tighten the top was to use those open end socket wrenches, 40 bucks at Lowe's -__-

I got another ?, dnt wanna start another thread. I noticed my one rear coil, (other was in by that point) made a noise, sort of a ping when I flipped it upside down, like something was sliding inside, I took a vid I'll upload tomorrow. Please don't tell me that that is something wrong coz I dnt wanna take these out again to send them out for warranty work.

Woops! Sorry I have RCE Tarmac Zeroes, which are based on the KW V1. I wrongfully assumed they were the same, but forgot you have an adjustment knob on the top. The V1/T0's have an allen key on top.

Was the sound metallic? Could it have been the plastic cover that was sliding up and down?

I didn't upload the video yet, I've been swamped all day. (on cell now), it sounded similar to those whistle sound maker toys, that squeel when U turn it upside down. Il upload sometime this weekend

autoCAR 10-18-2013 11:55 PM

the rear end doesn't seem to be making any noises, or I just haven't hear yet. I'll keep this thread posted
