O2 Sensor stuck...
 

Been trying to get this O2 sensor off all day. First one came off pretty easily but this one... its pretty stuck. tried an impact wrench (electric seem'd weak), muscling it with a wrench, and tried muscling again with an o2 remover socket. Nothing worked.. Took it to the dealer and they could'nt get it off either. Anyone have a solution for this? Trying to reuse the o2 sensor so i dont want to spray any PB blaster on it (hear it ruins the sensor).

If an O2 remover socket and a 1/2" breaker bar didn't get it out, then I am not sure you are going to be able to save it and I would resort to some rust penetrant.

breaker bars solve all the world's problems. at least the important ones.

PB Blaster (just go easy) work it back and forth, in stages, until it turns easy.

You will probably still end up with buggered threads on the sensor - If you happened to make any progress with the impact/breaker, without the PB Blaster, that movement was probably the the expense of the threads.

The heat from the cat causes this. I had the same thing happen, PB blaster was the only way I could get it out, but the threads were trashed. Luckily for me, I had a spare Toyota O2 sensor in my bin of parts. I just had to hack off the end and solder on a male vs. female plug (same exact style plug). I also had a spare connector in my parts bin. :)

Or perhaps use the noisy cricket approach. Use an impact gun set low and just let it sit there banging away for awhile. If the sensor doesn't move after 5 minutes move the gun to the next setting and try again. A pair of ear plugs is recommended as the noise will quickly get annoying/painful. It takes a while but it's never failed me and VERY few threads have come out messed.

I've came across this 7 different times on customers twins. There's just certain headers that get stuck and it's always that sensor. I have been able to save 1 of the 7 that got stuck, the others were ruined and had to be replaced. I keep those in stock now because it was happening so often.

I've never ruined a sensor with PB personally and have used it several times on my FR-S's o2 sensors.

This is not a situation where PB fixes the problem, the ones that I have had stuck are cross-threaded from the factory.

Sorry, I should have clarified. PB is short for NPBBWTFT (New PB Blaster with thread fixing technology).

I hope the factory isn't getting these things on by half a thread then zipping them on.

Got it off that night and man was it cross threaded...by the time we got it out the threads were obliterated. o.O pb blaster did the trick. Wanted to avoid it because of that slight chance it will seep into the sensor itself... Ended up working out.

WD40 is what we use at my shop when this happens. try an open ended wrench as well. if not try a 02 sensor removal tool that looks like a 12point and is short. the longer, the less power you put down. hope this helps. haven't run across an 02 sensor i couldn't take off with the previous things over a span of 8 years.

oh almost forgot, try to tighten a bit then go back to trying to loosen it. sometimes tightening will get it to budge. so little umph tightening then try to loosen. if it budged then you're good and if it's super hard to spin with the wrench. do the same motion with wd40 over and over until it's out with of course the loosening having more umph than tightening. hope this helps.

WD40 or PB Blaster won't help much when the sensor is badly cross-threaded from the factory. I had a hell of a time getting mine out and 1/2 the threads were stripped off. Using gunsmithing files I was able to clean up the threads just enough to get the sensor threaded into a mini-cat.
