backfire at cold start

hello all together!

Have you also already experienced backfire at a cold start when you step on the gas while pushing the sart button?
Iīm asking cause i question myself if this is a normal reaction or if i should better go to the dealer
Hope for some experiences!

No its not normal , I have had the same issue even while driving , take it in have them look at it the are replacing my ecu and check DI seals ...

I don't think you should need to step on the gas while you are trying to start the car...

+1. Keep feet off throttle while starting.
You don't have carbs.

+2, see if you get pops when you start it without throttle. Pops are probably because you are throwing fuel into the engine and its rich from startup, some escapes into the ehaust and ignites.

I'll plus 3 that ...... yep, "old habits are hard to break" ..... but like said above, we don't have to "set" the choke anymore .... :)

PS - no, my car doesn't backfire at startup.... it just peacefully goes through its little warm up dance.

FreaQshoQ 10-15-2013 11:43 AM

it just happens if i step on the gas
of course i know i donīt need to hit the pedal while starting but i was wondering if i was the only one with that occuring

bcj 10-15-2013 12:21 PM

Doc! It hurts when I do this!

drewbot 10-15-2013 12:24 PM

This happens to me in the mornings. Only when my car is started cold (from being sitting outside for 12+ hours).

1.5k-2k RPM idle with intermittent popping for 30 seconds. Then it dips to 1k RPM with no popping. Drive away with no popping.

FreaQshoQ 10-15-2013 01:52 PM

oh okay then it seems as itīs normal :)
always just happens to me when the engineīs cold and i give a little burst.

bkblitzed 10-15-2013 05:25 PM

so your intake sounds like it's going to blow up?

FreaQshoQ 10-16-2013 03:23 AM

i donīt exactly know where it comes from but would be interesting if someone knows
only thing i hear it the really loud popping when pushing the gas at cold start
if i donīt do that everythingīs normal no gas no popping

It happens to me sometimes but i have a borla cat delete plus muffler delete. On rare occasions my car will take some cranks to get going, once it starts and i hit the throttle my car will backfire alot but then stops.

bkblitzed 10-16-2013 05:20 AM

backfire is when your intake is blowing up lol. When its comming from the exhaust it's called after fire
