PVT AJ Australia - Daily/Light Tracker
1 Attachment(s)
I figured I should start a journal of my car since seeing a lot of inspiring builds from other members and I hope it inspires others.
日本語コメントは歓迎されている。 Background: This is my first car journal and open to info and help. I have had my 86 since February 2013. I track it about 6 times a year and occasional drift night/ motorkahana. I am looking to get into some hillclimb events if I have time. Mod list: Exterior:

Looking good so far, you're the first person I've seen on here with the Buddy Club tails installed, they look great in the videos, thanks for sharing!

Photo from earlier this year when i cruised to the hunter valley. This would have to be my favorite photo of my stock car.

Any videos of the buddy clubs with the cascade turn signal effect of the tail lights turned off?

A small update on progress so far:
I'm in the middle of installing the RCE Tarmac 2, fronts are in and running brilliant. Just waiting on the rears to go in which hopefully will be in the next few weeks. I will be throwing in the TRD shift knob today. It looks and feels like really good quality, I will try update on the feel once its on the car. I picked up a speedhuners tow hook strap (yes I know it is not suitable for direct mounting). A friend of mine in the NSW 86/BRZ club will be making up an eye bolt for me. Then I will remove the stitching and restitch it onto the eyebolt keeping the same stitch pattern. Its purely just for looks on meet days and in the future I might test it's properties to see if it is functional. Also a video of the lights with the flicker turned off has been uploaded to my dropbox. A night version will be uploaded tonight after it gets dark outside. Photos and videos are all updated in my dropbox folder |
An update on the RCE suspension and other items:
Suspension: they have been in the car for about 6months now and feel great for both daily and track. For daily driving it is not too harsh with the rebound and bump set (I usually run mine at 8 bump and 8 rebound for street). For on the track the setup feels very good, the car stays grounded. I have zero complaints with it at all. TRD shift knob: not really any difference to the stock shift knob, I thought the stitching might be uncomfortabe but it is fine. Ferodo pads: they performed great on track and on the road. On road I get slight noise on cold days when the brakes are cold. For the track they withstand good punishment. Some review on properties (1= bad, 10=perfect): initial bite=6, fade=6, life=8. If there is anything else feel free to ask. |
The shorter final drive is a great upgrade if you don't plan on putting down gobs of power. I'm pushing somewhere between 250 to 300whp (will know exactly how much on Tuesday) with my 4.56 final drive and I feel it would be too short with any more power. Right now as it sits I have IMO a really well rounded daily driver. Enough power to put a smile on my face with the acceleration from the gearing to get there quicker. My speed limiter is set at 140mph and I hit that in 6th gear at 6800 rpms. I have the power to run through those extra 600 rpms, but since I daily this car, I never come close to seeing those speeds. If you plan on staying all motor, the 4.8 might be a good gearing for you as well. The 4.56 is decent without too much power but a 4.8 might be that much better. I highly recommend a clutch type LSD. I love mine. Makes everything smoother when going through the corners.

Thanks for your recommendations. With the clutch type LSD did you go with a 1.5way or 2way? |
2 way
