Stoptech S/S brake lines: same between stock caliper vs big brake kit?

I'm checking pictures and was hoping someone can verify:

Stoptech Big Brake Kit for FRS/BRZ: front stainless lines, are they the same as the standard off-the-shelf stainless line upgrades for factory calipers?

@FT86SpeedFactory pics from their big brake kit sales thread:

versus...

@RallySport Direct pics from their front stainless line (factory caliper) listing on their site:

The part numbers are the same... can anyone verify?

Also: for other big brake kits, do they also reuse the factory banjo fitting?

Thanks in advance.

Just got off the phone after talking with Roger from Stoptech. He said the lines are different. The ones included in the BBK are specifically made for their caliper.

What we can do is I can send you my "for stock caliper" goodridge lines and you send me the ones included in the BBK kit (just like we are doing with the Pads).

Good thinking!

Sounds like a plan?

Odd that the two are listed with the same part number. From an inventory control perspective, this isn't the best way to figure out what works with what...

I'll put the BBK lines in the box.

Maybe try to call yourself to double check? I forgot to tell him that part number thing. It seems odd IMHO too...

He sounded extremely confident. Like immediately told me no, they are not the same.

This probably doesn't help, but the Speigler lines we sell work for most BBK as well as the stock caliper.

Hmmm the mystery deepens... I know a lot of aftermarket big brake makers nowadays are using banjo fittings, but when I last had a BBK (Rotora/Endless on my S13) those were flared fitting ends.

Interesting. Will dig into this deeper and report back.

I believe the stock (and spiegler) is a banjo fitting, but I don't know the technical terms for a lot of parts...

What the pic shows is a banjo fitting, what most OEM single/2-piston sliding calipers use.

A lot of aftermarket calipers and/or previous OE 4 piston calipers (see: Nissan Z32 and Z33) uses flare fittings, similar to what goes into the brake master cylinder.

http://www.eastwood.com/Brake_article for what they look like.

I only care about this because it may come in handly for those of us looking to jump up to larger brakes, but already have stock caliper S/S line upgrades.

I called them again yesterday to ask a question regarding the rear rotors, but again asked about the SS lines. Again they responded they are different I asked how and he said the ones with the BBK are usually longer...

I STILL call BS on this because how can you control this with same part number, but will be installing the Stoptech lines just to err on the safe side.

Just got off the phone with Stoptech. I called in just referencing the part number, not the vehicle, for our cars which is 83.827.4300.xx which is the ST40 328mm front kit. I asked what the SS line replacement part number was and they said 950.44034. I then proceeded to ask what the replacement lines for 83.827.002G.xx (rear ST22 345mm kit) were and they said 950.47508.

I then asked what the part numbers were for the BR-Z and FR-S stock SS lines. SAME. They are the same part. It's not a common thing but in this situation the stock lines and the BBK lines from Stoptech are the same.

I spoke with Roger.
