oil in the oil filter catch

Dip stick, says my oil is normal. I don't know why there is some in the catch. Oil filter seal leaking?

Perhaps an OE one wouldn't leak like that?

I'd say the oil filter gasket isn't sealing. I would change the filter ASAP and clean any residual oil before putting on the new filter.

you are using the wrong oil filter. Subaru uses a special filter for the upside down design. Get an OE filter and your good to go.

This is my fourth of these filters, and this is the first to do this.

hmmmmm well either get another or do the recommended thing and get a OE filter. Good luck

Performax filters have a 25% chance of leakage.

Quit being so cheap... Your probably running good oil, so buy a good filter. It's not a ten+ year old beater...

The oil filter for Subaru EJ engines require OEM filters with a round rubber gasket or they leak. I wonder if the FA's have the same problem. Did you notice if the gasket was flat or round when you installed it?

Round if I'm correct

You should unscrew the filter and check the rubber gasket. I bet it has a tear somewhere.
