rattling when braking

Hey I recently got my FRS like two months ago. As I was driving two weeks later my FRS when braking gives a rattling sound from the engine. The only way it does not rattle is if I brake while pressing the clutch. I took it to Toyota twice and they can't seem to find anything wrong or out of place. Has anyone experienced the same problem and found a solution? Please help.

I've found that my car makes a short rattle occasionally when I'm braking at low speeds (under 30mph, although I'm not sure if it's simply that it's not loud enough to hear at higher speeds) with the car in neutral and my foot off the clutch. It seems to always happen with my hand near or touching the shifter, but I'm not sure if that's just because I usually have my hand there when I'm in that situation, or if my hand is causing it.

I find the car makes a quick jackhammer noise (not super loud, but noticeable) for about 4 times, then is quiet.

No idea what it is, does this sound like what you notice?

I get the same rattle but I believe its the direct injectors functioning normally. Although I'm not completely sure so anyone feel free to chime in...

Is this your first manual transmission car by chance?

no i have owned 4 manual cars and can drive manual very good but it happens when i am in neutral and braking. it happens when i am in gear and braking . RPM's are above stall limit so i doubt its because i am close to stalling.

YES! exactly. the reason i ask is because i had another manual FRS and it did not make those noises. I also have a friend who has one and when i drive his, it doesn't make that sound.

The best thing to do with the situations is either dealer it or find another owner locally to compare.

That was going to be my guess. Does it do it at all speeds?

Mine does it too...but I cant seem to find the conditions to reproduce it so I havent bothered taking it into the dealer.

It happens when I'm slowing to a stop...so brake and then almost immediately clutching in.

It sounds when i am slowing down under 30 for a complete stop or just slowing under 30.

My guess would be throwout bearing noise if the clutch changes the sound. It is probably RPM dependent and only does it at lower RPM levels. Do the same stop from 30 to 0 in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear and note any differences.

My brz started doing it and has about 1400 miles on it. I've noticed that it seems to do it only with the AC on in nuetral, clutch doesn't seem to effect it.

It's my understanding that the clutch and the brakes share the same fluid reservoir. Since your rattling sound may be related to movement of the clutch, maybe the ABS system is making the noise and the clutch movement is interrupting it.

Is the clutch/brake fluid reservoir up to the full mark?

Maybe their is air in one or both systems?

If so, bleeding the systems may settle it down ....:iono:
