One thing worth mentioning as I ran into this issue today.
You may run into an issue with once you put the sleeve and 2 O-rings on the new pump and the pump does not "click" back into place but you try to install the pump into the canister and you have a lot of resistance, don't force it. Take the pump back out and look for any "old" O-rings that may have come off while you were removing the old pump. The old pump is also held in by 2 O-rings so there is a chance when removing the old pump that an O-ring did not come out with the old pump. When you try to install the new pump, the additional resistance that you could be experiencing with the additional 3rd O-ring (2 new, 1 old). Just take your pic tool and pop out the old O-ring. That should allow the new pump with the sleeve and 2 O-rings to "click" into place and you can proceed with finalizing your install. One last tip, when reinstalling the canister into the vehicle, remember the lip of the canister gasket goes inside of the tank. If you simply place it on top of the tank, the screwing lid will never grasp the threads. |
And one more thing. A hiss coming from the drivers side after install of the pump is perfectly normal, especially for DW (DeatschWerks) pumps. I had the same noise in my tC. If you turn down your radio and press the throttle, you'll hear the pitch of the hiss increase with the RPM. If you get this just know...it works!
