Are Carbotech XP10/XP8 pads position sensitive?
While installing the XP10/XP8 Fr/Rr I recall a letter, possibly an "I" stamped on some pads, but no directional arrows or other markings. Does it matter how they're installed forward/backward/inner/outer?
Possibly related to this, after proper bedding in at the local airport the ABS has come alive under hard braking with Potenza RE-11A's. I'm wondering if pad placement has anything to do with it, or is it due to higher performance pads generating more clamping force or something expected with XP series modulation? The ABS was nowhere near as active with OEM pads. TIA... |
No, they're not.
You're getting more ABS action because you're braking harder, but with staggered compounds. The same pedal pressure will generate substantially more pedal pressure (nearly double the friction), and the EBD is trying to compensate for the difference in braking at the front and rear axles. Effectively, you can step on the brake less to get the same braking force, so you should have a nice big range for modulation. |
