To those running 18x9.5" up front..question
So in considering changing my next wheel option TE37SL from a staggered 18x8.5" ft and 18x9.5" rear to a full on 18x9.5" square setup likely 40 offset. Primarily as my "street and looks set". Then I begin to ask myself would putting such wide tires up front somehow feel "sluggish, doggy" in any way? My mind says to some degree it has to given the width but maybe I'm fucked up and there is no concern?
Love to hear from those that went from "stock/anything less then 9.5" in 18s to having 9.5" in front and if there are any regrets or negatives. The other concern I have is the stress suh a width and weight would have on our existing power steering system and associated bits... Also please state your tire size and camber to front and back if you know it! Also how much lower then stock you are :) Thanks for your time!! |
I don't think you should have any problems. I'm running 18x9.5 square and its still rather nimble in steering. Having said that, you're going with te37sl which are relatively light so you shouldn't have any problems with putting stress on the steering system.

18X9.5's square, 245/35's, and Tarmac 0 coilovers. I can corner hard now and have tons of clearance. I absolutely love the feel of it now. Feels much better than stock.

we are running 18/9.5 rapped with 275/35 Hankook RS3 and love the set up. we are running a 48 offset, but using a spacers to help with DD, so for DD we are at 42 in the front. its a close fit but we track the car also

Specifically thinking of TE37SL 18x9.5" (+40) offset with 255/35/18 MPS-AS tires Obviously this is not a track setup rather a looks DD setup. I just like the concave the width 9.5" gives. |

a 255 will have a bit of a stretched look. We have a member that has 265/35 and the rim sticks oout from the tire and he worries about the curb all the time. FYI

To the OP, I'm about to go 18x9.5 Forgestar F14s all around. I've been debating on whether or not I should settle with 265/35/18 Michelin PSS or test my luck on 275/35/18 BFG Rivals. The michelins measure out to 10.1" and the rivals are 10.2" in tread width. |
On my rear RT5s I have now which are 18x9.5" I'm running 255/35/18 tires now and the stretch is very slight, I have 225/40/18s on front on 8.5" I did this to keep closest % to stock rolling ratio. I get what you are saying though for sure I would like abit more meat and have considered upping this to fill out the edge of course that losses some room as well for clearances but I'm also only planning on lowering by an inch to 1.25" at most from stock height to maintain as much strut stroke as possible.

As for the rivals they will fit like the rs3 |
I have 245/35 super sports on 9.5 + 38. Upgrading front sway bar lightened the feel a bit but I wouldn't want to go too much bigger on a daily.

Any ideas on fender modification? Not too worried about responsiveness, as the f14's are very light for their size, I think under 20 lb edit: also, would there be any inner clearance issues (ie rubbing fender liners) with kw v3's? |
