Insurance in the GTA

So I picked up my white out frs on august 6th. All is well except how much my insurance is. For strictly the frs the insurance is 486 a month. I understand I am a young male but holy s**t does this seem to high for most? Where are you guys insured and what kind of rates are you paying.

What's your age and driving record? I'm with desjardins, 26, paying 220 with a speeding ticket on record.

Raymer 08-13-2013 11:44 PM

Im 20 with no tickets and was in a not at fault accident.

when i was 20, i paid 400 as well. try "the personal", you should be able to get into 300 range.
now i'm 24 with 0 ticket/G/0 accident, paying 220 (TD monex). it is still way too much....

didn't the mayor/governor say to reduce insurance cost some time ago?where is it?

I'm 27 with 1 speeding ticket, currently paying $198 tax included.

Mine is around $230/month, 32 and clean record. Good luck getting good rates in the GTA at or under 20ish, I've seen quotes as high as $10k/year for new drivers on a corolla.

FWIW, rates don't seem to be worse on these cars, I was looking at a few others and this was actually slightly cheaper to insure than a Mazda 3 Skyactiv (not Mazdaspeed 3!).

I'm 23 with 3 speeding tickets and pay about $200/mnth less than that. I would suggest shopping around.

If you don't have a G lisence yet then you'll be screwed anywhere you go.

Who are you insured with? It is true that overall it's pretty damn expensive everywhere I've tried a quote at least.

with the personel, 24, one at fault & one speeding. 430. he told me that there was an error and I was not at fault and said it was 400 but then noticed that there was an error in the records...and now I am sad. csb.

HOLY CRAP

28yo, 1 at fault, 1 ticket. $2Mill cover, 5 year replacement guarantee, 500 deductables. $175/mo

If I was OP. I'd drive the FRS all summer, and store it all winter, and drive a 1992 Civic all winter. That's just not affordable.

I thought you can't buy part year insurance anymore... or was that just motorcycles?

wparsons 08-15-2013 09:15 AM

Anyone posting rates, also post where you live. My insurance doubled when I moved from Guelph to Toronto with no other changes.
