Rear Parking Brake Guard Rub (Meaty Rear Tires)
 

So I'm running +45 offset 18x9.5" wide wheels with 255/35/18 tires and I am having a slight issue with my wheels rubbing against the parking brake guards during high G cornering. If anyone hears a very slight metallic rub noise from the rear during cornering, I would be fairly sure it is this. I am considering bending them out of the way, but there doesn't seem to be much room there. Has anyone else had this problem when running larger wheels? I've got an autocross this weekend and would like to get this fixed before (by bending or such) then. I'll be glad to take some photos tomorrow if anyone is interested. Thanks!

I looked at those when I installed my 18x9.5 +40 265/35/18, and I removed them and bent them with my vice. Since you are running 5mm less offset, it does not surprise me that you are rubbing them.

What tire are you running? Stock height?

I run 9.5 +45 rear with continental 255/35/18 no rub but they run narrow and im stock height.

I had the same issue with my TE37SLs 18x9 +45 with Dunlop Direzza ZIIs 255/35. Rubbed on the right rear wheel (grrrr). I also took the brake line guard off and bent it.

interested in pics showing exactly what to bend, too. haven't had the issue yet, but good to know what to bend if i encounter it.

It mounts to the rear lower control arm with one bolt and the parking brake line on each side kind of rests on it. The bracket has a loop on top of it to keep the parking brake line from getting into the wheel/tire. You simply remove the bracket and bend that loop to get more clearance. It is easy to see if you have clearance by looking under your car from the rear.

I am running 255/35/18 tires with RCE Yellow springs. I had no trouble before lowering, so I am sure that is part of the issue. I'm using Kumho Ecsta LE Sport tires, and I am honestly not sure if they run thin or wide. The actual rubbing seems to be on the wheels themselves, so I will try to bend those tomorrow if the weather agrees. Good to know several other people have had to do this. I'll take photos when I bend them for anyone who wants to see. Thank you for the replies.

EDIT: They don't rub at all unless I am doing some hard cornering. Its quite easy to avoid rubbing them unless autocrossing or something of that sort.
