Boost and mixture gauge questions
I just traded my BMW 135i in for my new BRZ, and on that car I had a very cool chip tune that gave me a bunch of power AND, a few other cool options.
The tunes available (Vishnu Procede and Burger Motorsports JB4) had options that changed the fuel and oil temp gauges into Boost and Mixture gauges. When activated, the fuel gauge acted as a boost gauge, with 1/2 tank being 10 pounds. The temp gauge could also be changed to a mixture gauge with the 1/2 point on the gauge being stoich. Is it possible for these options to be applied on our FRS and BRZ cars? Seems that if so, it could save a few bucks on an already expensive venture. Both these options on my 135i were super easy to read and very accurate. |

That would be very cool!
I know on my 135i it was SUPER easy to read and understand the boost and mixtures, the 1/2 points on the gauges were 10 pounds and stoich. |

The latest EcuTek versions use the tach as a percentage of flash complete kind of, so I know they can control the gauges. With that being said, if you want to see those things then just add a display and run something like Torque or get the P3 gauge.

The analog speedo is a perfect example of something that could be repurposed as a functional AF, boost or oil temp gauge. I've owned my car for over a year now and I can't recall ever looking at the analog speedo. Another cool feature that I've mentioned to John V. would be if they could integrate a knock detection light on the dashboard (maybe by flashing one of the lights on the dash, whether it be CEL, high beam light, ABS light, whatever.) I'm not sure how much of this is technically possible, but would definitely be a cool addition and could be a good feature/selling point for ECUtek or OpenFlash Tablet if they were to incorporate something like that. |
yeah the analog speedo is a waste of space on this car. unfortunately 0-160 isn't a really good scale to present anything else useful with it. any ideas?

I would think 0-160 analog speedo would be perfect for a boost gauge. Each 1000rpm would be 1 pound of boost.

0 to 160 would be perfect for oil temps in degrees Celcius.
