Re-using tires thoughts
Im planning to reuse my current tires for fronts and buy a new larger tire for my rears, but the local tire shop in my area giving me a warning of dismounting and reuse for my new wheels, giving me warning for possibility of damaging of the sidewall, coz of the pressure of the metal spoon might cause to tear/puncture/bubble due to low profile sidewall tires.
any thoughts of possibility of damage? |
BS. I'd go somewhere else.
Edit: I mean.. it's possible, but if anything happened to the sidewall it would be their fault and their problem. |
Isn't the only difference between a new and a used tire the tread depth? There's a little coloration and a few heat cycles, but that shouldn't be anything to consider here.

Go to a different shop. The only things I'd check for when getting used tires are these:
1. Check the manufacturer date of the tires. Tires have an expiration date so make sure the ones you get are not expired. 2. Check for any damage. Holes/bubbles/damage/etc. I wouldn't put on a tire that has side wall damage since that can't be repaired. 3. The wear of the tire. |
